Well he is taking on a legitimate Welter Weight. Still viewed as one of the top 5 in his class. Considering his age and activity, its obvious members will point to be a little green. Its not just Cotto, let it be Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, or even Williams (if he decided to come back to 147). They just seem more seasoned, then Berto.

Bring it on Berto, you a brave man! This would be a great fight, Cotto by UD. Mosley-Clottey should get it on and winner should fight winner of Cotto-Berto. If this were to happen, I strongly believe that Cotto would be on top!

I hear that! I would be throwing money on Berto at big dog odds just like i did with Mosley, Pacman, and Hopkins. **** the 'safe' bet in boxing these days, it never wins

If berto to is willing to fight cotto, then be it... Ithink he already believes in his self that he can take such challenges in order for him to be recognize more... But still believe that cotto will win...

Hand picked? Talk about hating on a boxer... Is Shane Mosley a pushover? Heck, Sugar is still more explosive than Berto. Margarito, plaster or not, is a big-ass welterweight. Quintana is probably the weakest of the former champs he has faced, but still beat Paul Williams by UD, which proves that at least he can draw a good gameplan. The only way that Berto can beat Cotto by KO, is if Margarito's plaster damaged him that much, which I don't believe as he wasn't directy KOd. Props to Berto for actually seeking an improvement in class.

Bertos too young, but i see it as a good scrap. No KO, maybe stoppage.

You guys are delusional. I love both fighters but you all make it seem like Cotto is unbeatable.. He has several weaknesses as does Berto.. They both have suspect chins but i would say Berto's is slightly better (by a raindrop). Speed goes to Berto. Power goes to Cotto but Berto is not far behind. Stamina to Cotto. Ring generalship to Cotto. Technique to Cotto. Defense to Berto (philly defense on occasion). Fight prep goes to Cotto. They are very equal size and reach-wise. Berto was sluggish against the slick southpaw Collazo but proved he wants to battle. He kept coming forward the whole fight against Collazo (which in my opinion was the difference). He showed me alot of heart in that fight... And believe me if Torres can put Cotto down (you already know wut im gonna say next). And as for Cotto he can definately put Berto down. I haven't seen Berto take many shots so it will be interesting to see how he adapts to the ring pressure. I say he IS ready because nothing nor anyone else can really prepare you for a guy like Miguel Cotto. You wont know what to expect from Miguel until your in the ring with him. Its not like knocking Collazo out would've miraculously prepared him for Cotto. Yea it wasn't a pretty win but you have to admit he showed guts and proved he can win on a very off night. I can see Cotto on the other hand being well prepared for this fight. My only concern regarding Cotto is that I have seen his power decrease and his speed increase.. He still throws bombs but seems more concentrated on speed now. After Judah his punches have come down a notch.. In the Mosley fight his power was absent. Gomez doesn't count to me cuz he got put down by a jab that barely hit him. In the Margarito fight he lost punching power as he boxed going backwards... I just haven't seen any of his last couple of opponents show that specific grimmace other fighters showed after getting bombed in the body (like Corley, Judah, Quintana).

                  ....So in the end...

Interesting and pretty even fight in my book.

I would buy the PPV for sure... even if it was double the price.

why people making cotto seem unbeatable as if berto is garbage, berto is a beast too,he had a tough fight vs a tough opponent in collazo who gave hatton a rough fight also, its not like he almost lost to a bum. plus why should berto give luis another opportunity when cotto is sitting right there and theres more money as well.

plus if he beats cotto, then him and mosley could go at it,and with the styles that they have that fight would be crazy

They are more seasoned than Berto, but Berto would be getting a crack at Cotto at exactly the right time. Say Cotto were to fight and beat a top 10 opponent before Berto fought him; well then Berto would be fighting a supremely confident Cotto. If Berto fights him in June then Cotto would only have beaten Jennings between a brutal beating.

I like this better than waiting and hoping that these types of fight might someday happen. It's a new day. Enough with this wait around for years to see a big fight. Let dude take a loss or two to get experience. It ain't the end of the world. And if he were to win...well then that would put him in a driver seat. Maybe we'd see Mayweather-Berto. I mean they're both managed by Big Al Haymon.
