And Hatton carries more weight in his shots than marquez, Manny is the favorite in my eyes, but if he starts taking a few body shots or he cant get away from hatton, then he is in serious trouble.

Hatton just needs to move away from the left, he doesnt need the boxing IQ of marquez to do that.
I am one of the people who say he was lucky to get the decision actually, but you can't say he had Pac's number due to the closeness of the fight. He did have some success despite JMM doing most things right

I think Hatton's punch resistance is questionable at this point in his career, and the punishment will get to him before it gets to Pacman

And knowing what to do, and actually doing it in the ring are two different things also

I really dont think you need that much technical expertise to move away from a left lead.

Its just something he needs to work on in training camp.

Its not like only Marquez can pull that move off.

        I agree.

Maybe hatton will get hit and resort to crazy Billy Graham tactics,

But Against Paulie he began to try and use the jab and little more, so maybe mayweather sr can do something for him in this fight.

Again, i agree pac is the favorite, but Hatton has alot better chance than people think.

I like both fighters but the Pacman will have the advantage of speed along with the brilliance of the "Pac-Attack" fight plan. JAT

The Chunks of this forum watch so little boxing and mainly just repeat partylines seen elsewhere on the forum. I doubt if he's seen Forbes fight more than once.

Oscar's preparation is a factor in why he was so wasted in The Dream Match. Though, could be his body just isn't meant to be fighting lower than 154lbs at this point full stop. Either way, something wasn't right...and people noticed it against Forbes (Roach being one of them).

That isn't especially telling of anything, though.

It isn't about excuses or what line the fighters take post-fight. It's about using logic to ascertain how much of a fight outcome is attributable to fighter A or B's brilliance, how much is attributable to circumstance, and determining from there how much said outcome should be influencing our perception of fighter A or B's chances in future/projected matchups.

Can't argue with any of that. Well put.

I had no idea Forbes fractured a bone in Oscar's face. He was obviously bashed up and swollen but Forbes must have done more damage than I originally thought.

To be honest, I haven't seen more than three Forbes fights myself. The ones I saw didn't give me a bad impression of him, though. In fact, he seems to be discredited a little too much around here. Pretty solid fighter.

                  S a m u r a i,

I like Pac, a lot. It's just I've noticed something of a Bruce Lee cult building up around him since December. I want him to win this fight, anyway, because I like his style more, and also --- on the off-chance that the winner should lure Floyd out of retirement --- I don't want to see Mayweather-Hatton II. That slight preference aside, I just think it's an intriguing matchup, I'm not really pulling for either guy.

You know what the 'Agendas' will say, though, If Pac does carve Hatton up? That Floyd softened Hatton up for Manny...and they wouldn't be entirely unfounded. That consideration is why this fight is such a perilous assignment for Ricky in my mind...I think the Hatton of 2005 consumes Pacquiao's ferocity with his own. But if Floyd has left serious vulnerabilities in Hatton's armor, Pac has the ability and savage intent to open them up and do him some real career-killing damage.

Couldn't agree more, MIB. I hate to sound like I'm kissing ass, but your posts are very much on point.

You are probably right about the "Bruce Lee cult" thing. Personally, I've been in awe since 2003 (Barrera fight) but since December the fanaticism does appear to be going somewhat off the charts! I do think Pac deserves the praise he's currently receiving, but I've noticed that some people are getting slightly too carried away.

I won't hide the fact that I'm a big Pacquiao fan. Hopefully I don't come across as a crazed fanatic.
