if the game plan was to pot shot margacheato the whole night, why not use the 10 oz gloves? why would you want to use 8 oz gloves vs a guy who's considered a puncher? that doesn't make any sense to me.instead he got beat down with plaster inside smaller gloves.for cotto to improve he needs to let his trainer go.evangelista will be all right.he's all ready training alot of fighters in pr.

kevin rooney, or teddy atlas would be my choices(if i had one).
i think both of them can improve his defense, considering cotto's height and his original style, which was a bastardized version of the peek a boo.
i wouldn't expect them to turn him into another tyson; cotto doesn't have quick feet or quick upper body movement, but i think they would better cotto's defense, which is where he needs the most improving.

The gameplan wasn't very well put together. I honestly think they didn't expect Margarito to take the shots as well as he did. I'm sure they figured after 5 or 6 rounds of that, he'd slow down. He didn't, and Cotto got exhausted.

For Cotto to become a great champion he has to move on....

Evangalista can't get him to the next level...I would like to see maybe Roach or Senor train Cotto...

Indeed. However, Cotto seems too bullheaded at times to mix with a Mayweather, Richardson, Roach, or Steward sometimes. He needs to swallow his pride, I thought the Margarito loss would do that for him but I'm not convinced.

A new team would definitely be a step in the right direction though.

Judging by waht Floyd Mayweather Sr has done with Oscar and other fighters or even Freddie Roach and what he done with his fighters. Seeing how Cotto is from PR and he speak primarily spanish he might want to get with a trainer that speaks spanish. For now he is sticking with his Uncle....Lefty

He definitely speaks enough English to have an English trainer. Manny hardly spoke any English till the past couple of years...

he'll keep being very good but he needs a new trainer to make him great. he'd be (nearly) unstoppable if he polished up his defense. his offense is awesome as it is (although there's always room for improvement, you know?)

Floyd Sr is the man. Floyd sr have the balls to control a guy like Cotto, who is a hard headed person. Plus the fact that FLoyd will make Cotto a better fighter by implementing a better defense to his game. Evangelista is a good trainer, but theres a time when a boxer needs a new look to things!!!!!!!!!
