Hopkins turned away so much that in the old days he would've been disqualified after a few point deductions. But other than that his strategy was fine.

I think Calzaghe made the better adjustments as the fight went on, slapping with his feet still so he could keep the pace high. That meant he got no power on his punches, but it was more important that he not let Hopkins slow the pace down. He succeeded in that endeavor, without any doubt.

And you could tell Calzaghe's arsehole nearly went when Michael Buffer read out the last scorecard at the end of the fight.

      He looked relieved.

When the fight ended, did you think there was any chance at all Hopkins could get the decision? I was sure of it at about round five. It really wasn't that close a fight. People can say they scored it for Hopkins, but there weren't any rounds after the first that absolutely had to go to him, and everyone knew who won when it ended.

Hopkins landed punches, Calzaghe did not.

He landed about 250 punches. Hopkins threw two or three decent punches per round, but he was getting slapped literally from pillar to post in between those.

11-1 would be a reasonable score, and some knowledgeable observers like dr filth, gave that card. I thought 10-2 was plenty generous to Hopkins. But Giampa's official score of 9-3 was also reasonable.

It was a clear whitewash, like Hopkins-Pavlik

I've scored it for Calzaghe the first and second time i watched the fight but at the time when the last scorecard was being read out, i thought Hopkins was going to get the decision. Calzaghe looked relived to me.

I still admire the way Hopkins went about this fight, he age just caught up with him IMO.

Calzaghe didn't take that fight from Hopkins IMO. A lot of people seem to think he did but i don't personally.

He landed 250 punches according to compubox>fail.

Your scorecard is flawed, because Calzaghe was'nt connecting. How do you score shots that are not connecting?

Answer me this who connected with the cleaner punches more often ?

Hopkins had a punch every other round or so that looked impressive to the casual, uninformed observer with no eye for the sweet science. Calzaghe did the better work.

If Hopkins were younger he would have succumbed to Calzaghe's pace even more. He did what he could considering the considerable gap in ring smarts and skill between them, but he simply never had the talent to hang with Joe.

                    What a pathetic post.

I suppose you are an "informed observer with an eye for the sweet science"

You are a joker Kayjay. Informed? the other day you said something along the lines of Klitscko will go down as the greatest fighter ever.

You also said Wlad beats a prime Lewis. You have anything, but a well informed eye for the Sport.
