B-Hop had the right game plan...just not the stamina. Didn't he fight well after takin a good breather?
Hopkins game plan against Calzaghe....

Hopkins landed the cleaner better shots throughout the fight, Calzaghe came in with his round house arms flying and Joe got the decision.
How can the judges not see what's being landed and what isn't? because no way did Calzaghe land as much as the combe-box??? numbers made out?Comment

I'm about as unbias as you can get in regards to this particular fight, as both a huge Calzaghe fan and huge Hopkins fan (from before he beat Pavlik unlike 90% of them)
And I thought it was pretty clear who the winner was
and so did my family who are all Calzaghe fans judging by the forlorn expressions on their faces before the decision was announced
I thought Calzaghe was in deep **** by the 5/6 round TBH. And i still dont think he did enough to get out of it.
I cant say Hopkins won though, because i dont think you can win a fight like that.......... you have to dominate more decisively than that not try to pinch a decision, allthough i suppose its always gonna be that way in a Hopkins fight. I also dont think Calzaghe won it either though, because he was even less effective, but he was trying so i can understand him getting a share of the spoils(a draw) but there is no way he won that fight, no way.Comment

heh sorry
hyperbole... i know there are a few of us on here
but the general attitude towards him seemed to change dramatically after the Pavlik fightComment

Exactly!
Ive got nothing against scoring for the more active fighter, but come on you gotta land your punches. This was the fight i realized compubox were complete horse ****.Comment

Bandwagoners. That, or he's finally earned the respect he should've had years ago.
If he fights on, I doubt he'll have many supporters.
Though sadly, I think the final chapter in my boy's career has already been penned.

I accidentally hit the 9 instead of the 8 when checking it and it wouldn't let me undo it.That's one jacked up scorecard, how'd you mess up scoring the KD in the first? lol
I don't agree with Pac/Marquez being a more clear win for Juan. Especially not since I went back and watched the fight multiple times and score it as I went. There were some really really close rounds in there, I mean close as hell.
Maybe Calzaghe took the 2nd round, it was a toss up, but other than that, I didn't see him taking any of those early ones.
And Hopkins clearly won the 7th and 8th on my card. I didn't give him the 10th though.
It was a very close fight, but people act like Joe dominated him for some reason.
I thought only round 7 was close as hell for Marquez-Pacquiao 2 and some others had a little argument for the other guy, but it mostly still should have gone to that person. I had it 115-112 Marquez or 114-113 if you scored round 7 for PacquiaoComment

Im not a huge Hopkins fan, but ive always been intrigued by the way he fights and i respect him as a fighter. Its how he dissects his opponents, thats what i like.
Also i love the whole EX thing, thats what Boxing is missing today personality's and Hopkins never STFU he is compulsory viewing when he does interviews.Comment

yeah, his attitude is mainly what made him so disliked in the past, but i've always found his abbrasive, almost obnoxious ways really entertaining compared to these humble, nice guys who seem so contrivedComment

Its the whole Pantomime/Wrestling thing playing the bad guy etc.
