In so many ways it's the fans who can be responsible for damage some fighters sustain. The dude was KO'd in round 8, but because we're so quick to label people quitters fighters want to go out there and just get their head taken off as opposed to acknowledging that they've just got nothing left. It's seriously ****ing ******.

There's a fine line between courage and ******ity. If Margarito didn't answer the bell in the 9th, there would have been no shame in that, and anyone who would have called him a quitter could seriously go **** themselves.

What's the point? Let's say he went in there and got KTFO, and his brains were scrambled to the point he couldn't fight anymore. Sure, he would've ended up like Gerald McClellan, but at least you could all say he was a "warrior" right?

I'm sure Margarito's wife and family would take issue with this as well.

I just don't understand it. Taking a hellacious beating to your head and body round after round, minute after minute, doesn't make you a "real man" to me. It makes you ******ed.

"Doing what your favorite fighter won't do". You're probably right, not many boxers will use plaster to cheat, i mean fight.

And not many will take on the top 5 in the division either.

EXACTLY ! Why go out for another round and risk your life and not being there for future fights or your family because you want to be macho. At least with Cotto he knew he had nothing left and rather take a knee than risk getting brain damaged or hurt forever. PLAIN ****** on any fighter that would risk further injury.

give Margarito credit, the guy is a warrior. no one can question his heart.

hes no hypocrit either. I believe he was laughing at De La Hoya for quitting when he was getting beaten up by Pacquiao, and Margarito didnt want to be seen as a quitter either. he wanted to go out on his shield.

and I know its dangerous, and maybe he shouldnt have done it...but that was one hell of a dramatic conclusion, and it added enormously to the fight. you have to admit, a fighter quitting in his corner takes away a lot from the fight.

talk about sacrificing yourself for the fans, eh? you really have to respect Margarito.

I have to admit, Id rather have a standing TKO type of loss than a "I quit in the corner" type of loss. actually though, the thing I would choose is to go out there for a little bit, and let my corner throw in the towel the second I get hit. then I could feel better about myself and at the same time not give myself unnecessary damage, and could console myself in make believing that it was only because of my corner that I got knocked out.

And I never said it was limited to Mexicans did I?

I said what I said in regards to what I quoted.
Well saying it was a "Mexican thing" kind of implies that it's limited to Mexicans.
