I feel like Richardson gives really abstract advice to his fighters during the fights. Only guys like Hopkins or people who have a lot of ring intelligence will really click with him. I like him, though.

excellent point bringer.....naazim seems to have a great knack for crafting sound game plans...interesting to think of what he would have designed for Nard

Naazim is so inspirational in the corner......last night he told Shane that NOONE in the WW division had faster hands than him.......he knows how to get the maxium outta his fighters......he's been WELL RESPECTED in the Philly boxing community for years.....I'm just glad he's gettin' that RESPECT world wide now.....Assalamu Alaikum Brother Naazim!

yeah those were the two fights hopkins didn't seem right. But did you ever hear about hopkins have a thyroid problem for the calzaghe fight? Hopkins never ever ever used it as an excuse, or even mentioned it which really shows what kind of man hopkins is. But here is a quote from Roach in last issue of the Ring Magazine:

"Asked what the difference was between the hopkins that beat pavlik and the one he trained for the close loss to calzaghe, Roach replied, "I'm not sure. He has a thyroid problem and Mackie Shillstone tried to control it with diet for the Calzaghe fight. I've talked to doctors and that's pretty hard to control with diet. He looked like a whole different person in there with Pavlik, so I was thinking he must have taken care of that problem."

            From another article:
sometime after the match Hopkins' trainer Freddie Roach revealed that Bernard had been suffering from a thyroid condition for the Calzaghe bout, a condition whose chief symptom is extreme fatigue. Conditioning trainer extraordinaire Mackie Shilstone had tried to control it with diet. According to the doctors Roach consulted, that's a pretty tough task.

Yeah, if it weren't for Dan Rafael reporting it, I probably would've never even heard about it.

Just imagine what it was like for Hopkins in the ring that night, dealing with that type of exhaustion. And he never once brought it up himself, that's very respectable to me.

Great articles there man, good looking out.

Richardson was co-trainer in the corner for the Calzaghe fight, but he was never once in the ring with Bernard. Infact, I don't think he said 2 words to Hopkins the whole fight. He still wasn't at 100%, that's why Freddie ruled the corner.

I'd love to see a rematch with Naazim in Hopkins' corner now, and without the thyroid condition. I'd bet my account on a Hopkins' victory.

Yeah, I hadn't heard about that thyroid issue. Mad respect to B-Hop for not bringing it up, even when he was crawling around on the ground trying to get Calzaghe disqualified for a couple of phantom low-blows. That's how real men play the fight game.
