It's great to see him finally getting the respect he deserves from everybody.
It wasn't long ago when we weren't sure if he'd ever speak again after that stroke.
Nothing can keep Naazim down.
I think the main problem with having him as a trainer is you already have to be a elite boxer, because he doesn't improve you as such he tweaks you a little and makes brillaint gameplans one at a time. If your a younger fighter who hasn't learnt all the tricks of the trade then chances are he's not going to be very useful.
The word wisdom comes to mind. Dude just seems to be full of knowledge. Everytime I hear him talk, I just think it'd be cool to sit down and smoke a blunt with the guy. he reminds me of my old boxing coach actually. Looks like him too.
This makes me wonder about Chavez for some reason, I remember hearing the blows landed on Meldrick Taylor and how Richard Steele said he could hear the shots and also how Taylor's face disfigured fast.
also keep in mind he had a stroke a couple years ago and was almost done completely as a trainer. In fact, he wasn't the trainer for hopkins when he fought calzaghe. And if I remember correctly he wasn't there against winky either, although I'm not positive on that one.

Well we'll know how he does with that when his sons careers pan out. He's been training them all since they were children.
And I'm not too keen on these guys like Roach and McGirt, who train tons of guys, and get a few success stories out of them. Richardson said it best himself, saying that if you train 100 guys, it's a lot easier to become a well known trainer. One of those dudes is bound to do something in the sport.
Whereas Richardson is very selective about who he works with, and only offers his hand to those who he really has an affection for. He's also quite reclusive, he never tries to take the spotlight away from his fighter.
How many times have you seen Freddie Roach giving interviews? And how many times have you seen Naazim giving them?

Freddie Roach was with Hopkins in both the Wright and Calzaghe fights. Roach never fit with Hopkins either. Kinda makes you wonder how the Calzaghe fight especially would've went down, if he had Naazim as head trainer.
Naazim regularly trains amateur fighters, he does both full time, so to say he only needs an elite fighter is silly, you obviously dont know much about him and only going on what you see on tv.

He was the trainer for the Calzaghe fight, atleast co-trainer. I watched an interview TODAY where he talks about Calzaghe-Hopkins just before the fight and how because Roach is there he's able to take a back seat and work on the gameplan while Roach works Hopkins over in training
