He can insist on having Mickey Vann as the ref if he wants. It wouldn't make any difference because Floyd is the superior fighter. He didn't show anything to suggest he could beat Floyd last time, and ended up losing convincingly. The key factor was not Cortez's performance, however incompetent it was, it was the abilities of the fighters and I think it's delusional for Ricky to carry on with this talk.

You have come to your conclusions but that's the "what if" factor. Cortez influenced the flow of the fight if not the actual outcome.

Yes, based on what happened in the fight. We'll have to agree to differ on how significant Cortez's performance was.

You don't think the fight was fairly competitive until Floyd's Oscar winning performance in the 6th, resulting in Ricky losing a point? Now picture a ref not letting Floyd hold as much, and not breaking them up every time Ricky worked his way to the inside. How much damage is T-Rex armed Hatton supposed to do to the freakishly long reached Floyd on the outside exactly? Throw in a smaller ring, and you might still have a Floyd victory, but it's definitely a closer fight. Considering all of the money Floyd made on the first, a rematch might not be a terrible thing. And at least give Ricky a chance to avenge the ringpost incident.

I have trouble thinking that he is deserving... especially since there are so many fighters that PBF hasn't beaten yet that I'd rather see him in the ring with. Hatton needs to get a couple of wins over HUGE opposition... not just Magic Man. If he could beat Pacquiao and one other big name, I'd say he's deserving of a rematch.

Hatton and Mayweather never had a legitimate fight in the first place. The first fight was fixed - fixed judges, fixed ring, and most importantly a fixed referee who wouldn't let Hatton fight on the inside where he, of course, needed to fight since his arms are much shorter than Mayweather's. Also, the crooked ref was ostentatiously distracting Hatton all night long, screaming in his face, and in his zeal to earn his crooked Don King sheckels, he even deducted a point from Hatton for no known reason. If boxing was honest that fight would have been declared no contest and Joe Cortez would be banned from boxing for life, but unfortunately boxing is anything but honest.
