It's his mental strength from things like being ripped off not getting into the Olympics, landing some fights, injuries which makes him such a strong willed fighter. And he is a pretty sound geeza too all in all. I call double standards when people rant about show boating and being ****y, because it seems fine for most other fighters, in fact good.

It should be noted Calzaghes planned on retiring for awhile now and is going beyond what he'd intended especially age wise. He is tempted I think partially to try even harder to gain more respect from the US audience. He's been beating Americans for years and it's brought some more respect, but unfortunately also hate. If he fights again I'd prefer Dawson but I wouldn't kick of if he picked someone else relatively decent. Folk keep saying one more young prime guy and I won't criticise, I just don't think the excuses will ever run out so in some senses he might aswell retire.
Yeah Calzaghe *might* Froch, but it won't get the backing from HBO that's for sure. I mean whats the point of fighting in front of his homecrowd, if the opponent has a very good chance at beating Calzaghe. A farewall fight would probably be someone less risky.

****, i dont really care for CalSlappy but that would be a good way to end his career by fighting Froch who's been calling him out forever, It would do big #'s in the UK for sure

exactly. and you know what else isn't fair? they are saying( and I at one point was doing this too), fight a young prime fighter!! But really Joe shouldn't have to do that, because hes 37 himself. I know Joe is a great 37, but still, he shouldn't have to fight 25 year olds at this stage of his career.

You think HBO would televise a crappy ass Calzaghe vs Froch match, get real. Did the U.K know who Lacy was before he fought Calzaghe? No they didn't.
FFS, try actually reading my post before spouting BS. It doesn't matter a **** who knows him outside the UK or whether HBO televise it or not. This would be a huge fight, moneywise on UK receipts alone. And Joe gets a big farewell in front of 80,000 or so (not one of those poxy Vegas crowds in an over-blown lounge bar) fighting someone who those watching HAVE heard of. Froch wouldn't be short of support, either.

One last fight, enjoying the crowd, the atmosphere, the anticipation of whats to come.

Calzaghe-Froch is a MUCH bigger fight over here than Calzaghe-Dawson.
I Agree, casual fans in the U.K are not going to know much about Dawson, It makes more financial sense for Joe to fight Carl, however in terms of legacy
Dawson is the better option, the thing is though Why is Joe now a light Heavyweight, his last fight should probably be at Super Middle, or does he prefer lhw?

I understand where you are coming from. On all points.
I just want to see Froch get his cake hole shut.
Zags, and us US crowd, are like water and oil, it seems. And as much as I would love to see Dawson get a chance at Joe, no way it happens.

Final farewell of Joe beating the **** out of Froch? Sign me up.

Yeah I did read your post, you said a Calzaghe vs Froch fight would attract casual fans from the U.S and it should be PPV. First off a Calzaghe vs Froch would not be PPV and HBO said they want Calzaghe fighting Dawson or Hopkins. And no, a Calzaghe vs Froch match would not attract casual fans from America. More casual fans from America know who Dawson is than Froch.

If Calzaghe's plan is to attract an international audience and get backing from HBO he will have to fight Dawson. A fight vs Froch will be strictly a U.K thing.

I didn't mention casual fans 'from the US', or PPV there. Nor did I say anything about an international audience. Quite the opposite, in fact, my whole point is that for a fight against Froch in the UK Calzaghe could make heaps of cash (and I mean heaps) even if the US was left out of the loop completely; indeed I think he might well like it that way. Far more than he would get fighting Dawson anywhere.

Don't get me wrong ; Dawson is the fight I'd really like to see as well. But if Joe really wants a farewell fight on his home patch that pleases his home fans AND is a big earner, Froch is actually an excellent choice... and I think we agree a far less risky one although, as I said, Froch isn't without chances IMHO.
