I'm half Welsh, for that previous respectful comment, apologising, and that sig, jeez don't be sorry.
Millenium stadium is roughly as big, a great venue down the road from Calazgahe. His resume notes a good few fights there which filling large parts of it is impressive. He's still fought in a lot of other venues though which he didn't have to considering that stadium, crowd size and such down the road. Amazing atmosphere and view in that stadium, as good as the new Wembley almost I'd say.
I use to not like Calzaghe. But I've recently gotten over it, I wouldn't call myself a fan. However I do like him as a person, he seems like a good guy after watching him on that 24/7 series. I do respect him as a fighter and believe he deserves allot of credit fof a great career. For the people that keep saying he needs to improve his legacy. I disagree, like I said earlier, look how many people in the boxing community from promoters to fans to writers are praising him. If he has as much respect as he does, he has nothing else to prove. I think a farewell fight would be great for his fans...Comment

For the benefit of American posters the most likely reason a Daily Mail journo would mention Froch is that he's actually heard of Froch, him being British and all. He probably is clueless as to who Hopkins is, let alone Dawson. But if Joe wants a big farewell in Cardiff it won't be against Chad Dawson.. not because Dawson doesn't deserve the fight but because nobody in Wales or England outside hardcare fans has even heard of him. Regretable, but that's just the way it is.
My money would actually be on BHop.. BUT, that said, a Froch fight at the Millennium Stadium would make a LOT of sense, if you widen your perspectives a little. For starters, in the UK it would be a HUGE fight.. perhaps the biggest ever domestic. It's a fight that would fill the stadium and get massive PPV here simply because it's one even the casual fans would really like to see and be willing to buy expensive tickets to do so. It's big enough, in fact, for Calzaghe to give his home fans what they would like, earn a large wad of cash AND turn around to America and American 'fans' and raise a finger or two... which is just the sort of thing he might do. Of course, a great many of us would piss ourselves laughing if Froch beat him.. which is not impossible by any means.Comment

theres 2 lines in there - i'll check the papers and the sites tomorrow if the story is run by the times or guardian then you can be pretty sure its legit.
as for his possbile opponent - froch is a possibility. froch has been badmouthing joe for a while now and i can see joe wanting to get the moneky off his back so to speak. froch has also said beforehand that his team have offered joe his biggest payday to date, so i can see joe thinking to himself one last mega-fight at cardiff, 60k fans cheering me on, 12 rounds of relatively easy work and then i can ride off into the sunset.
on the other hand you have the winner of dawson/tarver (probably will be dawson) - a win here would cement his status as the lineal LHW. whats more a win against dawson would finally silence his US critics who say that hes been looking for over the hill fighters. a tougher fight for joe especially as dawson is a big southpaw but i see joe taking him to school.
there are other fights out there as well kessler or hopkins but i dont see joe wanting to take them on, hes beat them once and he'll have a hard time getting himself up for the fight again. if tarver wins in the dawson fight i wouldnt be surprised if joe decides to take on glen johnson instead.Comment

It should be noted Calzaghes planned on retiring for awhile now and is going beyond what he'd intended especially age wise. He is tempted I think partially to try even harder to gain more respect from the US audience. He's been beating Americans for years and it's brought some more respect, but unfortunately also hate. If he fights again I'd prefer Dawson but I wouldn't kick of if he picked someone else relatively decent. Folk keep saying one more young prime guy and I won't criticise, I just don't think the excuses will ever run out so in some senses he might aswell retire.Comment

If Joe could take out Dawson at the Millenium Stadium, that would be great for his legacy. Sure, it doesn't matter what he does, some people will still call him over-rated, but I think that if Joe can beat Dawson, and maybe hopkins too he will have done everything he could really.Comment

lol no one knows who Froch is outside the U.K. It wouldn't make sense at all because Froch is a ****ing nobody. He's a C level boxer with limited skills, the only thing that he has going for him is his chin and power, but his skills are below average. You think HBO would televise a crappy ass Calzaghe vs Froch match, get real. Did the U.K know who Lacy was before he fought Calzaghe? No they didn't.
One last fight, enjoying the crowd, the atmosphere, the anticipation of whats to come.
Calzaghe-Froch is a MUCH bigger fight over here than Calzaghe-Dawson.Comment
