The third paragraph sums it all up. Yes, Hatton seems like a great, genuinely good guy but Pacquiao is justified in standing his ground. He has been in serious deep water battles with Marquez, Barrera and Morales three hall of famers putting his record, career and most importantly health on the line everytime. Hatton has made his sacrifices too but he got knocked out silly, lost to Colllazo, looked second rate in that fight after Mayweather and couldn't put down Malignaggi or even look good...he has fans but no more than Pac who I believe has won over all of Mexico now. 60-40 now that I think of it sounds generous.

Campbell bring nothing to the table financially for Pacman and Hattan to even look at......the man is BANKRUPTED!!!
The point is that he convincingly beat Juan Diaz, who most rated as the best lightweight at the time.

and Pac got KTFO by 2 nobodies, so whats your point?

and what Nate brings to the table is an ass whippin, which is why neither guy is interested. Why get KO'd by Nate for $3 million, when you can get KO'd by someone else for $10 million?

Sebastian Coe is one of the greatest runners in history but never became a millionaire. David Beckham is paid far more than many footballers who are more skilful than he is, but who are not celebrities like he is. Like Beckham, Hatton is a celebrity, who brings to the table millions of fans who do not ordinarily have any interest in boxing, but who love him.
          Ok, I'll bite...

Sure, I do think there are athletes that are overly paid due to "commercial" appeal, but, by and large it depends on the goals of the management or team.. IF, you want to gain exposure or attention to a league such as the American Soccer which is apparently in dire need then you hire someone like Beckham... But, if your interested in winning championships then Im sure someone else is better value for the ridiculous salary...

Question.. Why didnt any of the other teams or well established leagues in Europe pay Beckham the same amount??? Dont confuse publicity for athleticism... That money was being paid to Beckham not for his present merits on the field but simply as a publicity stunt...

Coe? I didnt even know professional running was a lucrative sport... Now, if he can do the 100m in say 9.2 seconds and could catch, then Id think an NFL team would gladly add him to their roster for his apparent worth...

Sure, Hatton has fans and brings money to the table, but so does manny... Its arguable who brings more or less... But what is not debatable is their worth.. As I said before, if Hatton had Pac's career would 50/50 even be a thought??? Pac is on another level than Hatton... For Hatton to get there costs more than 50 percent... As a matter of fact 5 percent more for PAC is being generous..

Dwayne Chamber tried his hand at American football and Rugby league and failed abysmally at both.

              Speed without skill is worthless.

Juan isn't p4p and he got a SPLIT DECISION at that. There is no one on Nate Campbell ledger that qualifies him to be in the same ring with Hatton or Pacman.

It doesn't matter anyway, they will never fight him.....he has 5 losses.

I know that Hatton and Pacman have losses but Hatton lost to a p4p great and Pacman losses were early in his career (really early).

I can't think of 1 elite fighter Campbell has beaten? Oh and the best lightweight in the world was Casamayor who beat Campbell.

Casamayor was beaten by JMM who was beaten by the Pacman....

Why are we even discussing this? Nathaniel Campbell (a 36 year old fighter who is bankrupt) brings nothing to the table.

You're missing the point. Beckham was paid a fortune at both Real Madrid and at Manchester United, two of the world's best football teams. He was skilful enough to justify his place in both teams, but the massive salary he got was due to his commercial clout, not his skills. Both Real Madrid and Manchester United were able to get huge sponsorship deals solely on the basis that they had Beckham in the side. Like Hatton, he was very good at his sport, but not really great; and like Hatton, he earned the money he did because he was a celebrity.

That's my whole point. It's not lucrative because it doesn't have nearly as many paying fans as boxing or some other sports have. So what an athlete is paid is always down to the number of paying fans they can generate, not down to how good he or she is. That's just how business works. Sebastian Coe was worth as much as an athlete as any boxer is, but commercially he was worth diddly squat. Pac is worth more than Hatton as a boxer, but commercially Hatton is worth more.

Its not manny to be blame if this fight wont happen... Its shaeffer and arum's fault for treating the sport as a way to earn more $... In the first place its a sport so they should look on who is the man of the sport right now not on the money that they will earn... Arum and shaeffer are disgusted because they know that they will not earn that money if both fighters wont fight... What a greedy promoters... For pac its just okay whether he earn it or not... He just want respect which he didn't receive as being a top person on the sport... For pac, he doesn't care if he earns 12M or 3M as long as they respect him... Manny earns a lot already in terms of $ and legacy... He want what is due for him and he believe that he is worth more than a person who is just a name and not even included in the p4p list...

The promoters are just blinded by money... They are telling that it would be the biggest payday for pac and why he want to turn it down... They just dont understand the point of view of the #1 p4p king of the sport...

No love lost between GBP and Pacquiao.

Curiously, GBP, with all its clout and influence has scored zip in all encounters. Pacquiao, has yet to lose to GBP or any of its boys (Morales was with Arum). The court case may be called a Pacquiao win or, maybe, a draw as it resulted in Pacquiao's staying with Arum while GBP gets a part (some say a "token"). The GBP fellow who came closest to putting one on Pacquiao is JMMarquez. BUt he settled for that draw before becoming a GBP ward. Under GBP, the judges declared him loser (second fight).

Pacquiao took on THE MAN...Golden Boy, in person...and dominated him, thereby, putting an exclamation point on the series, up until then.

If this grates on Shaeffer, I can't blame him. I too shall be more than annoyed if these happened to me.
