Ok...I have to ask this because this has been on my mind for a while. The way I see it, Las Vegas has become the capital of the boxing scene, due to the casino presence and influx of boxing hopefuls...
I've always regarded Connecticut, which houses two of the world's largest casinos (and stages frequent boxing events) to be its East coast affiliate.
If this is the case, how come Connecticut has NOBODY??? As soon as Chad Dawson broke out of the bowels of the local scene, he got the hell out of CT and moved on to greener pastures.
Connecticut has some fairly sizeable metropolitans. From the past two decades, I can't think of one decent fighter, aside from Dawson (and I think he was actually bred in Florida) to come out of this state, which seems to be such a huge boxing community. There's Bridgeport, New Haven, Hartford.
I grew up in Massachusetts. At least we've had Hagler and Ruiz. Connecticut just seems to breed pansies and nobodies. Why is that?
