So there is no point if you compare Hatton to Bechham since they are not even close.
Hatton is also more on a commercial model than an athlete. What makes someone a celebrity is different in every case. Beckham was just an analogy to prove that how much a sportsman gets paid is not and never has been solely based on their skill level. Why do you have to take everything literally? It was an analogy. Hatton is a huge celebrity in the UK, not for his looks, but he's a huge celebrity.

Because he doesn't appreciate it when someone agrees a contract with him and then reneges on the contract.

      • 50-50 issue

The real culprit on the issue are the promoters who hastily agreed verbally without consulting the boxers. some boxing pundits claim that Hattons brings a lot of money on the table from UK PPV. look at the 200,000 buys with malinaggi.. is that the money were talking here? c'mon folks hatton only brings money if he fights P4P king and it is not him that is to be credited but the P4P king, right?

Probably by beating the No1 ring contender 3 times.

Tzsyu: (ranked 3 P4P) Ring Champ
Castillio: (Ranked 9 P4P) Ring No1 JWW Contender
          Malinaggi: Ring No1 JWW Contender

Lazcano was ranked top 10 @JWW as was Maussa.

So basicly in his last 8 fights he's fought 5 guys ranked top 10 in his division and won all comfortably including 3 stoppage wins against the best in his division and fought 2 Twice against the weight above him, both top 10 and lost the one against the top 10 P4P of the time.

Oh and just to add the one guy NOT ranked top 10 in his divsion when he fought them, now is ranked top 10 in his division.

Everyone's quoting that figure but no-one has a source for it other than the Pacman camp, which is hardly unbiased or authoritative. It seems su****iously low to me, as Hatton usually gets much higher figures than that, so people should stop quoting it as if it were fact.

Also Pac only got 250k US PPVs vs. David Diaz, so both need each other to get really high PPV figures.

Plus the same article said that PBF Vs Hatton took less than a million and we all know 1.4 is the accepted figure.

I think the "expert" was looking at US viewing figures on HBO not UK PPV figures.

              • Hey genuis, Pac vs. Diaz barely did about 200k buys too, so dont talk to me about his drawing power. Last I checked he only sells a lot of ppv's when fighting Morales and Marquez. So get off his jock. And I've never heard of phillipino's who fly in from the phillipines to go to L.V and chant for him all weekend long.
Hatton does. His fans follow him everywhere. If he doesnt get 50/50 he should walk away.

                • Oh yeah let ricky walk out on this one and let his uk ppv numbers speak by fighting... er... umm...

Hatton needs this in order to establish himself as a Top P4P fighter and cement his own legacy. Sure he's dominate at 140, but really, dominating one division, is that really an essence of greatness.

As far as his opportunity to make all that dough fighting Hatton, Pac lives in the Philippines anyways, with all his previous fights and the HUGE amount of endorsements in the Philippines (Nike, Mcdonalds, San Miguel Beer, etc.) Im sure hell be fine racking in 4-5 mil in his future fights.
Wow... You sure do know alot about Pacquiao's life & investments....you on the pacman payroll. Or is ur head in his lap when he's on the phone discussing deals.

I told you people b4 that these two need one another to make a mega-fight. But this is all propaganda to send us fanatics into a frenzy & create an insane damnd for the contest by taking it away from us. Think about it. Do you think a room full of smart & wealthy people are going to step over dollars in orrder to pick up pennies? Listne to the language. Evrybody in the story is against Manny. his promoter, his trainer, the entire hatton camp. It'sall counter-intuitive. Manny supporters & nutthuggers like 187 will strengthen their love for pacquiao....& an emotional war betwween all interested parties will be created leading up to the fight. Wut the hell is arum talkin about "he may have to sit out the entire year" yeah rright. Would Phil jackson sit kobe for a year. Would the Cavs do it to Lebron...or would the Yanks do it to Jeter or Rodriguez....Hell no.

Bob also might be trying to teach manny who's boss b/c he's upset w/ his ddefiance. But Manny is a strong man... u can't manipulate him into submission like that. He reps an entire race of people. He won't be controled by arum. I can feel that in my blood. Manny won't submit.

But he does need ricky. & ricky needs him. Everybody wants to fight both of them b/c of the money they could make. Let's face it. Manny has no otions @ WW. He'd get smashed by anybody of note. LW we don't know if he can hang there..Ricky would've been his first challenge. & lightweight is stacked still. So he has that option. & Rick is basically stuck at 140 but there are options there. holr, bradley, witter, judah. He could make a fight w/ cotto but he'd get trashed there too. Cotto s the wrong fight for Rick Like Tony is the wrong fight for miguel. But this fight will happen. They won't dstep over dollars to pick up pennies... I know it.

IBO champion.. #1 Jr. welterweight for 5 years? c'mon folk I almost never heard such boxing body coz I used to check only the WBC, WBO & WBA champs only. And after kissing the canvass against Floyd Jr., he is still in the top ten of P4P ranking? c'mon folks its fraud specially now that he wants an equal sharing with the P4P king.
