Hatton: "I generate more money than Pac"

Insisting that a 50-50 deal is fair enough for him and Pacquiao, the British super-lightweight star told the Daily Telegraph that while the pound-for-pound tends to believe that he is the draw, he is the one generating the money.
"Look around you. You can see how many have turned out tonight. I sold out the City of Manchester Stadium in six hours, 55,000 people. Thousands follow me to Vegas. How many people does he bring from the Philippines? Not many," Hatton said as quoted by Kevin Garside, the Chief of Sports Writers for the British broadsheet, in a story that was published last Friday.
"No disrespect to Manny, he is a great fighter, and deserves his pound-for-pound accolade. But I bring as much to the table if not more than him. We agreed a 50-50 split. It’s that or nothing," added Hatton, who also dabbles in comedy gigs.

I agree. 50/50, or tell Pac to go *** himself. Im a huge Pacman fan, but if he's gonna let 2% get in the way of letting this fight happen, then *** him.

Manny should look elsewhere and not give in.

He's the more accomplished boxer by far and he's no slouch in drawing power as well. Everybody near his weight range wants a crack at him right now because they know what he brings to the table, even if Hatton and his fans are still oblivious about it. His next fights with any marquee opponent will be the big events that the boxing world will be looking out for in 2009. This is an offshoot of last high profile and dominating win against PPV King Oscar.

Ricky is being given a second shot at redemption after being KO'ed in his last attempt at boxing immortality against another top dog of the sport. I don't care if his huge following of diehard Brit fans warrants in their minds that he gets an even split of the pie, because personally I don't think it's worth disregarding the status that Manny enjoys at the moment and that he has worked very hard to attain. Pac deserves the bigger share. He has earned it.

He's right and Hatton shouldn't give up his pride for Pacquiao. Pac may be the better boxer but that means **** in boxing. Boxing is a business and Hatton brings more money in. 50/50 or get ****ed Pac. Go fight Valero and generate 200,000 PPV buys.

I understand your support for your fellow countryman, but fair is fair. Im half Philippine myself, and as much as fan that i am of Pac, both fighters have a point in their negotiation arguments. Pac said he is willing to go 52/48. Are u telling me that he cant just go down 2 more to make this fight? If he doesnt, that would be a bit rediculous if u ask me.

This fighter hit the nail on the head. How can u not agree with this?

I think the most logical way to kill the drama between Pacquiao and Hatton is to settle it the old school way. Stipulate a 10% marginal split (55/45), with the winner taking the lion's share of the split. I think all of these mega-fights should be governed this way because it would eliminate the Oscar De la Hoya's of the world who continue to take mega fights because they know win, lose, or draw, they'll command the biggest purse. I think if two fighters know up front that the winner would walk away with the bigger slice of the pie, they'd come in a tad bit hungrier, (no pun intended). This fight is a bit misleading because Pacquiao is perhaps the bigger global star, but Hatton represents a market that will bring in a huge 'paper trail' and it's a demographic that he totally controls. So considering that both men bring something to the table that the other can't, I think letting the winner take the larger split is easily the best way to draw a bona fide conclusion. Both men have great pride and both men view themselves as 'the man', so if you're that sure of your game, why not let it speak for you! Right?
