I think Roy was too phenomenal for his own good. He had the luxury of NOT needing to develop heart. He was so much better than all of his opponents that he was never dragged into an ALL OUT WAR. Even against B-Hop, Roy just stayed on the outside and countered. As he got older and began to slow a bit, I do think a certain lack of heart began to show.

He still had the physical ability to jump in and do his best to tear Joe an new *******, I don't know why he just held back and let himself get beaten like that. I mean, Joe would have still beaten him on his best night, but he had tha ability to put up a better fight.

Why does Roy Jones fans always give Him excuses for him getting knocked out. He got knocked out far and square in 2 fights STRAIGHT. Muscle loss or not.

I dont like Roy much but his heart should not be in question. The way he pulled out the last two rounds against Tarver when he was running on empty and the way he stood up to Calzaghes beatdown took guts.

A 2008 Roy on his best night. I'm not talking about Prime Roy. No amount of steroids or patron saints would put Roy over Joe in 2008 or 2009. But a Prime Roy is a different story.

No, we can only speculate what at Prime Roy would do the Calzaghe, but it woudn't be pretty. Then again, the "pick your shots" type fighter are the one's that Calzaghe always exploits. Even a Prime Roy was still throwing only 35-40 punches around. It would have been interesting to see. Like I said, Roy can still do SO much more than he did against Calzaghe. I don't know how to explain why he didn't because I know he can.

honestly... i dont think he could.... there was points in the fight where joe stood face to face with roy with his hands down, and he wouldnt even throw a punch.... roy is basically shot at that point... the fact he had one eye to see out of didnt help the situation

Maybe you're right.... maybe I just WANT to believe that Roy has something more to offer. Not to sound gay, but it's tough saying goodbye to your heroes of yesterday. Hell, look at the way people still talk about Hopkins. No one wants to see the guy go. And that makes it hard to starts of today and tomorrow.
