    Did Roy Jones Lack Heart?

The reason Im asking is because of some fights where he didnt put "his butt on the line". Thats a phrase taken from Robert Allen's trainer in his third fight with Hopkins. For instance in the third Tarver fight, Roy was so hesitant, he had a good round 5 and he showed he could be competitive, but he did that for one round and one round only. Seemed like he wasnt willing to put it all out there, did he lack heart?

Fighting when you're gassed out shows heart. When he fought Tarvers after coming down from heavy weight he showed heart and when he faced Calzaghe he showed heart. He walked through the storm.

What about the Glen Johnson fight, watching live I thinking why isnt Roy throwing any punches, then Im thinking well he knows what he is doing and will come on late, it never happenend. Dont know why, other than he doesnt have the same stamina he once had or the KO from Tarver really did something to him, he face doesnt have the glow it once had, almost looks dazed sometimes.

Im not talking about that, showing heart is letting your hands go even though you know youre going to get countered. Arnoutis vs. Holt is a lack of heart, Arnaoutis was scared to punch because of getting countered, seems the same way with Roy.

Taking a fight 4 months after getting knocked out the first time in your career.. not to mention your body STILL has the muscle you put on from heavyweight.. he had everyting against him... including a tough aggressive fighter in glen johnson... i dont think it was a lack of heart.. he just didnt haver it in his body...

I think it was more of how he changed mentally after getting KO'd. He was always gunshy after that and hesitant because probably in the back of his mind he was afraid of getting KTFO again. People handle getting KO'd differently, and I'm sure for Jones, after being superman for all those years, his world shattered and lost one of his best attributes - confidence.

I agree with that somewhat, but we are years away from that fight and he doesnt look much different, if thats the case maybe he should hang them up.

This is what I notice also. Confidence isnt what it used to be which is understandable to a point.

Hell yes, Roy has a lot of heart. I have never questioned it.
