Golden boy putting on Affliction fight on same day as Margarito-Mosley

Why in the world would they do that????

They obviously promote Shane, yet are still putting an mma show on just a few miles away and at the same time, on the same night? I'm not an mma hater and will be attending the Margarito fight, but why the hell would they put both of these events on the same night. It makes no sense to me really. Well at least it's not like showtime and hbo doing **** on the same night.

Are you sure Golden Boy is doing the Affliction fight? I don't think they are.

Affliction is driven by a relentless passion to push the boundaries of what’s possible: inspired by those who embrace struggle and endure pain to achieve greatness.

It's on the poster and in the video, and on some press releases so I'm assuming so. I'm not 100% though because I don't follow mma, only 99% sure.

              General ******ity.

Thinking he can get MMA fans to this event in the same town yet hasn't helped promote it in said town. Ticket numbers are awful for this event.

Tickets are said to be doing really well. The tickets were priced very reasonably

Dan Rafael`s blog from the 9th of January

Sure, the economy is in rough shape, but if you give people value for their money, they'll be happy. Case in point: The Jan. 24 Antonio Margarito-Shane Mosley fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Top Rank and Golden Boy, which priced the tickets very reasonably for a fight of its caliber -- $50 to $300 -- say they have sold almost all of the lower bowl's 12,000 seats. Top Rank's Bob Arum told me the other day that there are about 1,000 tickets remaining. With that kind of success, they've opened the upper concourse with tickets priced at $25. Who says boxing is dying? Even in this economy, it is alive and well, as long as you give folks a real fight to come out to see at a price that doesn't force you to pick between tickets or the mortgage payment. Remember, it was this time last year that Madison Square Garden execs, who grossly overpaid promoter Don King for the right to host the Roy Jones-Felix Trinidad fight, had the audacity to ask $15,000 for a ringside ticket. Margarito-Mosley is a better match, and the atmosphere is going to be fantastic because tickets are priced reasonably, the fight is taking place where it belongs -- in Southern California, where both fighters are based -- and the seats will be filled with real fight fans, not high rollers, casino guests or folks who just want to be seen. Just give the people what they want in a place that makes sense at an affordable price and the seats will be filled.
