Also Butterbean lost to a 155 pound fighter in MMA. 155. Let me see a JMW boxer beat Butterbean in a boxing match.

I'd just like to second the opinion that the typical UFC fan is an idiot.

They talk massive amounts of trash about my beloved sport of boxing, without even knowing anything at all about it. The last time these dudes saw a boxing match was probably when Tyson lost to Lewis, if not even further back.

      I mean ****, I respect their guys, I wish they'd respect mine.

MMA fighters in general though are very respectful towards boxers. George St.Pierre is a huge Marco Antonio Barrera fan, and Randy Couture and Bernard Hopkins are semi-close friends and have even trained together.

mma itself is flawed. not the fighters. maybe in a few years it would be better, but claiming it as a complete and competitive sport is something i strongly disagree with.

watch mma all you like. no one is stopping you

Watch the 28 second mark and rethink that comment. Most devestating 1 punch knockout I've seen all year.

Fedor for example(the guy in my avatar) is the Grandmaster Sambo Champion of the world and was actually an olyimpic level amature boxer in his teenage years in Communist Russia. everything else he's learned has just made him a complete fighter.
I know who Fedor is, infact the only people on Earth who don't know who Fedor is are ancient tribes living in the Amazon.

Your statement certainly holds some truth, as most MMA fighters typically calssify themselves as whatever their strongpoint is. Still, I see a lot of mixing and matching of styles and strongpoints in MMA, with a lot of guys who really haven't seemed to master anything.

(Whatever that show on "Versus" is, about MMA. That's where I see the most of this occuring. But admittedly, I don't follow MMA much at all.)

Isn't it odd that you prescribe to the exact same behavior as them???

And the fact that you talk about boxing like it's some secret club for old men it's no wonder the younger generation wants nothing to do with it.

yes. the majority of mma fans talk smack about boxing even though they have little knowledge on it and don't really understand it. they just like watching guys beat each other senseless, and never appreciates the technical aspects of it

enough with the mma threads in nsb. you'll never convince someone to like it no matter how many mma "athletes" videos you post here.
                    You're a ****ing idiot.

No one is trying to convince anyone to like anything.

The thread starter is simply asking why so many people on this board in particular have such a blatant hate for the sport of MMA.

Simple as that ! You don't like it, get the **** out of the thread and go into another about what kind of cereal Manny Pacquiao likes to eat on Saturday mornings.

There are people who enjoy both sports ! Why do some of you knuckleheads feel like you have to choose a side ?

Is anyone here simply a fight fan ?

Therefore it tends to be less exciting in my eyes. What's more exciting, watching two guys trade blows at close range for 3 minutes, or watching two guys roll around on the mat countering grappling moves for 5 minutes?

Respect to MMA guys though, they train their asses off and deserve our respect, even if we may not like their sport.
I agree with most of your post, but the part in italics, I definitely disagree with.

Most fighters have a strength, ie a BJJ black belt, a kickboxer, a muay thai fighter, a wrestler...etc.

Many of these fighters are high caliber athletes in their respective sports.

The challenge in MMA is the test to see who's approach is more effective against their opponents approach.

This is what makes these fights intriguing, to me at least, is because there is so much more you have to be aware of, therefore making it even more of a thinking sport than boxing, in that you have so many more elements in addition to just your opponent's hands.

How ironic. I would say the same thing has been demonstrated in this thread countless times by boxing fans towards MMA.

The show on Versus is called WEC(World extream cagefighting) and it's also a really bad starting point because aside from maybe 1 or 2 fighters most of them are c level fighters.

I think the real starting point for you should be fedor fights simply becasue his entire style is rooted in russian sambo. he truley is without a doubt the most distructive man on the planet and he completely toys with most of his opponents.

All the boxing talent in the world wouldn't help you against this man.
