I said it and that's exactly what he was during his early years. You can listen to Hopkins' own interviews if you don't believe me or your eyes (I've shown you the videos) and he will talk about how he evolved as a boxer over the years.

These fights are from around the time Hopkins fought Roy Jones in 1993.

Here's Hopkins against Trinidad in 2001.

Prime Bernard beats Prime Joe in my mind and I doubt that can be swayed unless it had taken place.

And what fighters do you consider to be legends? I'm guessing you'd put legend in the same breath as icon.

thats kool, that proves my point even more
he has had a great last 6-7 years
we judge fighters on entire careers
        not the tail end....
im not going to comment on his opposition
at middleweight during his reign, it's not his fault
        but whatever
statistics play a major role in creating delusion amongst fans

          Roy maybe

          Calzaghe no chance!

Calazghe is too easy to hit and is tailor made for a Hopkins who can stustain his workrate. You saw what happened when a 40+ year old met him.

Hopkins would beat Calzaghe over 12 decisively in his prime. He would land the harder cleaner shots and Calzaghe would eat everyone of them.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

This has got to be a joke thread.

calzaghe would have been to fast
nard in his PHYSICAL prime couldn't hit RJ (not in his PHYSICAL PRIME)

Calzaghe wasn't to fast when Hopkins was 40+, that's why he couldn't hit him with a clean punch in the whole fight and spent most of his time slapping thin air.

good timing beats speed thats why Montell Griffin was able to make Roy look so bad he broke up his rhythm and countered effectively.

I've answered your questions and you've come back with nothing. It's getting boring now and I'm starting to think that you've made this thread just to get some points.

A lot of fighters couldn't beat Roy Jones. But Hopkins is the only one who gave him a fight in Roy's prime.
