Just watched an interview about him and he's a straight forward pretty classy guy. When asked why he took a knee against margarito he simply said because he didn't want to take anymore damage. When asked if he could have been conditioned better he said no, it was his biggest fight why wouldn't he be conditioned, he's conditioned in top form for every fight. When asked about why couldn't keep boxing like in the begging of the fight he said margarito took his legs from him. When asked why didn't he clinch he said if you watch my fights i've never clinched that's not my fight, I don't fight like that, that's a whole different style and also says you will NEVER see cotto clinch on purpose. When asked why he didn't go to the body against margarito he said he did try but he couldn't do it said margarito was well prepared for the body attack. Also said he got up to 178lbs during his time off. He said the highest he's ever gotten after a fight is 190lbs.(idiots on these forums will say he needs to fight cruiseweight now lol) That's pretty much all he said pretty straight foward, classy no excuse type of guy it seems like. I think his fans believe their own excuses more than cotto would.
Man Cotto Is a Classy Dude

Yea when asked straight foward what it was about Margarito, he said "He was better than me that night". That was my favorite part. Cause it's true, Tony was not to be denied on July 26th. -
Yeah, Cotto is a really classy guy. He is gonna beat the **** out of Jennings.Just watched an interview about him and he's a straight forward pretty classy guy. It's just not his style as he said. That is a serious flaw.Comment

Respect the guy for not makin excuses. Mad cats blamed his conditioning, his busted nose, his inability to throw bodyshots, etc. They just didn't wanna acknowledge that all that **** was cuz of what Marg was doin to him. He fought hard, he's all heart, and he deserves a rematch, but he ain't gonna win it.Comment

The fighters who don't bull**** are my favorite.
Paul Williams is another great example. He gave, easily, the most gracious post-fight interview after a loss that I have ever heard when he lost to Quintana the first time.
The only time I've heard someone admit defeat like that with no excuses was when they lost 120-108 on all three cards. Williams lost a fairly close, although undeniably Quintana's fight, and still admitted defeat 100% with no excuses.
Cotto did the same. Hats off to him. His camp acted like ****s afterwards though.Comment
