Why such hate for mma/ufc from boxing fans?

I dont get it. The ones that bash it and claim that its a gay/unskilled/bar room brawl type of sport, seem to be the ones who are most concerned and constantly complain about it. Why constantly complain about something that you consider a "**** sport"? I posted a thread regarding its record breaking year, and how it may effect boxing (for the better), and all i got is a bunch of whiney men complaining and giving me red k. If i were postly solely about UFC, then i would expect the usual "take it to the mma forum" posts, but my thread was intended to draw opinions on the current state, and future of boxing, given UFC's achievements of last year.

I dont like golf, but im not gonna go out of my way to bash it if i dont like it. If i can give two ****s about it, why waste my time bashing it? Some u men here need to stop acting like little twats, and man up. The only explanation for that type of behavior is insecurity. Im a boxing fan before im an mma/ufc fan, but truth be told, boxing has been taking a big dump on its fans over the past few years. Its getting quite hard to defend a sport that doesnt look after the fans who've made it what it is. Hopefully our sport will show more appreciation for us fans in this upcoming year.

Because many boxing fans feel that their sport is being threatened by the MMA craze.

You're exactly right. However, look at it this way. As boxing fans we are obviously biased and believe it is the greatest combat sport in the world. When we watch a fight it's the only thing in the world, while other people don't even know it's on. What pains me most, and other boxing fans as well, is to hear friends talk about going to watch an MMA fight. I never hear my friends say, "you watching boxing tonight". It's like there's a public thought that MMA is amazing and boxing is dead. Boxing isn't dead, it's just being promoted and analyzed the wrong way. For instance, on ESPN do you think they even know that Berto is fighting this weekend, or even know who Berto is? It's a joke, they show more Arena Football highlights then boxing.

MMA/UFC is hated by a lot of boxing fans for stealing the spotlight from the greatest sport on earth. I'm fine with MMA as a sport, it's the public hype for MMA and disregard for boxing that angers me.

Im one of those people that actually kept an open mind about MMA..
            Its pretty good at times..
            I watch it OCASSIONALLY..
I like watching the skilled, exciting fighters like St. Pierre..
I dont like how some of the fans think its hardcore..
I watch it for the art, and its much more applicable to street fighting..
            Take downs are pretty dope..

nope. cause many mma fans bash boxing in the first place, even though they have little knowledge in boxing.

even dana white b*tch about boxing.

i personally dislike mma, but i ain't telling anybody not to watch or appreciate it. if you like two dudes feeling each other out im not gonna judge.
