If Calzaghe said he was to donate all his money to charity; someone would post within a page about what a slappy **** he is, and how he is ducking Chad Dawson.

Some people are riding the troll train very hard on Calzaghe. He has at least 5 very dedicated troll's on this board.

Any criticism Joe recieves is Fair. Some guys go over board, but the guy brings it on himself.

"Just too big"... correction.. Calzaghe is just not that good. Remember Roy Jones moved up to Heavyweight to defeat Ruiz. Calzaghe is not on that level.
He tried to make a name for himself by beating an old Jones but that proved nothing. Calzaghe wont even move up to Cruiserweight and fight Haye. He wont even mention Hayes name.

I agree with you that in his prime Jones was on another level to most of the planet - he was one of my favourite fighters of the 90's/early 00's and so I'm not arguing with you there. But in debating Haye Vs Calzaghe, Haye always struggled to make cruiserweight and could probably no longer make it and so the fight would have to be at heavyweight. Again I just don't think that Calzaghe has the power/healthy hands to succeed in that class when he's not even a big light-heavy and there's really no need for him to jump that high - there's quality opposition left at light-heavy if he wants to continue (which I'd like to see him do for one more fight against Dawson as he's 36 and so no spring chicken himself). And let's not forget Calzaghe's been a career 168lbs (only recently stepping-up), he doesn't have the sort of frame that lends itself to jumping through divisions a la Jones Jnr.

Also, whilst taking nothing away from Jones (he had amazing relfexes and so never really got hit) Ruiz was no world-beater, I doubt the same outcome would've occurred had he fought a heavyweight with Haye's speed/snap hence why he didn't stay at heavyweight - He wasn't just talented, he was smart.

You just said it yourself -- some people take criticism too far, or go over-board. That's true. They also tend to conveniently leave out facts when discussing Calzaghe, as you did in this thread:

I don't believe Calzaghe misguided his career. I think that's more down to his promoter, Frank Warren, who is well-known for keeping his cash cows grazing safely.

Lets all just lump Americans in a category that suits your point of view....

What many Calzaghe fans don't realize is that Americans generally like Joe,don't let the trolls fool you. I may have joked about his style in the past but I have also defended his career many times on this board. You mentioning Jones as Joe beating our best boxers is foolish enough but your generalizations are what tops this post.

Has nothing to do with weight.. has to do with the challenge.. like with Jones moved up to Heavyweight and won (damn).. why cant Calzaghe move up to cruiserweight and fight Haye? OR most recently Pacquaio moved up to fight DLH.

I mean no disrespect, but I can't take anyone seriously who thinks Calzaghe -- a semi-retired career super middleweight at almost 37 years-old and who only had 2 of 46 fights at 175 -- thinks he could step up to heavyweight and fight Haye, a guy who will shortly go up against one of the two best heavyweights in the world.

There is a big difference between Calzaghe fighting Haye and Jones fighting Ruiz. You cannot expect any fighter to start jumping weight classes at age 36 when he's about to retire. Neither can you expect that fighter to gain an ounce of respect for fighting a junior middleweight Paul Williams. Do not suggest he'd gain respect by doing this. He would be crucified.
