Yeah and the fight wasn't ugly either because most of joe's slaps were just bounching harmlessly off hopkins gloves.Last edited by pistol whip; 01-12-2009, 03:53 PM.

But I also won't make that fight on Hopkins behalf more than it was. Joe throws punches like a tornado, he doesn't care if they land or not. So not being able to land doesn't count itself as a challenge for him. Taking punches counts itself as a challenge for Joe.[ Bernard rarely threw and landed even less. I doubt Joe will take the rematch because... and this is no slight of the Great Hopkins... but B-Hop just didn't present himself a challenge to Joe. If Joe fights, I'm hoping it will be Chad.

Hopkins Calzaghe II
Hopkins Calzaghe II makes sense to me.I think a second fight would be more exciting. I truly believe Calzaghe's aggression will get him knocked out this time.Hopkins is a master counter puncher and would be more precise with his punches this time around. If he had opened up more in the last fight,he would have got the decision, and Calzaghe knows this as well. He's not trying to lose that "0".Even with Hopkins throwing small volumes of punches, the first fight was close.Calzaghe, who is a phenomenal fighter,is not necessarily a great technical boxer.Hopkins would pick him apart next time around. If Calzaghe is not willing to fight Hopkins, then he needs to fight Dawson, Taylor,or Johnson. That goes for Bernard too.If not, they both need to retire.

I remember watching that fight being extremely frustrated with him.
Roy never stood a chance.
Originally posted by deuce_drop View Postcalzaghe isnt going to give hopkins a rematch because he knows how close he came to losing, it was calzaghes toughest fights to date, and calzaghe would much rather fight roy jones again, or manfredo, someone of that caliber, than rematch the guy who gave him his toughest fight.
calzaghe, got a gift, plain and simple against hopkins. calazghe said that he whooped hopkins, the only one who was marked up, knocked down, and looked defeated after the final bell was calzaghe. hopkins was such a tough fight for calzaghe, calazghe didnt' even clown around, not until he hit hopkins with a hammer fist to the nuts and hopkins was doubled over.
calzaghe is just avoiding a tough fight again, nothing more, nothing less. i wouldn't be surprised if calzaghe tried to sell all of you again on the jones rematch being the biggest fight of his career, just like their first sparring match, which should've not even happened at that late in jones career, damaged goods by the time calzaghe got him.......... just like 98% of calzaghes match ups............. over the hill, or not there yet, only one or a small few in their prime..........
joe won't fight hopkins again, b/c he knows he stands a great chance of losing. period. f--- the excuses, that's the reason. what makes it even worse is that hopkins has offered to fight joe in england........

hopkins fights joe.
that's it, or they both need to retire.
im tired of this "glen johnson" talk.....why would calzaghe pass up on hopkins AND dawson, to fight a guy they BOTH already beat?
