yes, and ring age is based on how many wars you have in the ring, a prime roy was invincible and lost something like 8 or 9 rounds his entire career before the ruiz/tarver fights. Which wars did he have before that?

only the Hopkins fight was close and that was when roy begun his career and started winning titles. the weight loss thing that roy had is just a myth and even that has nothing to do with ring age.

Nah it was before, I saw an interview where he said it happened before the fight when he hit the heavy bag, but still fought. He said he got it looked at and they said it was a torn rotator cuff, video is on youtube somewhere.

115-113 decision you call it an ass whooping? You look like a d!ck making excuses. Castillo beat him clearly. Get over with it.

This is true, hence I said Roy was a naturally gifted fighter, but once he lost the speed/reflexes he was no more superman, larry is correct that he turned old overnight but my whole point is that fighters like Hopkins and Mayweather have a style that will last long because they dont ONLY rely on speed/reflexes

but are also defensive, skilled fighters AS WELL with other attributes, which is why I wont rate Roy Jones as better because when he turned older he was unable to dominate or even win fights like he used too because his speed/reflexes were his main asset where as mayweather and hopkins have more tools, and that is why their style will work no matter what age they are.

When roy lost his speed he got KTFO twice, a dominated by a slapper as well as lost rounds to a welterweight. Hopkins and Mayweather on the other hand coped well when they lost speed

                Just Listen!!!

Roy at age 31 had done more than floyd right now. Roy was a heavyweight champ at 35. And finally lost at age 35. We will see where Floyd is at 35. And I agree Floyd was more complete, but Roy was still twice the athlete with twice the speed and twice the power of Floyd. He could do things in the ring that Floyd could never do. Roy is Lebron and Floyd is Koby athletically. And in Boxing that power means more. Roy was just as hard to hit if not harder to hit than floyd ever was simply because of those gifts from God. Now you want to use that against him and say that he wasn't a good boxer he just had quickness, well winning a boxing match defines how good you are and his god given quickness is part of his game. Its why he fights like he does. But he does know how to box, watch his amatuers. He just wanted to entertain and he could do what ever he wanted out there to he just took what ever stance he wanted and hit you from everywher. Floyd has never dominated divisions and fighters so bad, and consistently outclassed other boxers brutally knocking them out like Roy was. There is only one Roy Jones Jr. There are a couple floyds out there.

                    1. Floyd isn't 35 yet, and still has won 6 titles in 5 different weight classes, 3 of them being the linear/ring titles.

                    2. Roy fought Ruiz, the weakest title holder at the time, you might as well give Mayweather credit for beating Gatti at 140 then.

                    3. Roy was 48-1 or something and 35, had more fights with more time in years in the ring, Mayweather is 39-0 and 31 years old and still has time.

                    4. Roy got KTFO and beaten in the later part of his career, Mayweather has a record for getting hit the least times due to his defense while also being the most accurate fighter in his offense according to compubox.

They are both great fighters, at the end of the day, lets leave it at that.
