It's funny, but in the 10th or 11th round when Cotto was dead tired/hurt he clinched and the crowd started booing the **** out of him. Now imagine, the rematch goes down in front of those Latin Ricans in New York. You know Cottoe is not going to hold. His arrogant Latin machismo is going to get him ko'd even sooner.

People always say he shoulda clinched, shoulda attacked the body more, just got tired, etc. Problem is clinchin is dangerous against a guy like Marg who can volley you off and toss you right in the line of fire. At least in the case of Cotto, since Marg is taller and stronger. And stayin inside to attack the body woulda left him more open for uppercuts which he was eatin already. I do agree if he had the stamina to do what he did for the 1st 5 or 6 all nite, he'd win on points, but I don't see it happenin.

then if he can't clinch he's ****ed then...no need for the rematch. Its already decided. If Cotto going to do the same thing in first fight he has no chance. He will just get tired again, clinching is not just going forward then hug the other fighter. You gotta time it, Cotto box all of his life he must know how to clinch properly. All the sidestepping he's doing, only prolong the inevitable .He will just get tired again and be stop.

If he kept off the ropes, kept the fight in the center of the ring, moved in and out faster, and probably clinched more... he could have easily won by decision. For a while Cotto was clearly out boxing him, but then started heading towards the ropes and took punishment... that's when he should of clinched, he was clearly winning the fight up to round 7... and then he started crumbling under the pressure. So if he kept away from the ropes, clinched when backed up... and kept it in the center of the ring, he would have easily won by decision.

He will not however... be able to knock Margarito out, but everyone should know that by now.

Another flaw in Cotto,is that he backs straight to the ropes every time he feels threatened,he did it against Mosley too. Then he sits on the bottom rope.He needs to practice moving away latteraly under pressure!!

clinching is tougher than it looks.....hotto is not smart enough to implement that in less then 6 months!!!

Wouldn't clinching with someone stronger be a huge tax on your conditioning? I mean I really don't think Marg is just going to stand there and let Cotto hold his hand. This game plan will make it more of a physical fight which would play well in Marg's favor. I think what people fail to see is that Cotto fought brilliantly their first fight. He ran through plan A to Z and nothing worked. He is just not physically and skillfully capable to handle Marg with respect to Cotto’s ability. Its just Marg is just the wrong style match up for Cotto.

Like how pacman did it with DLH

                    In and out..
                    Less combos..
Basically how floyd fights, one shot at a time..

He has to stay in the middle of the ring..
                    Stay off the ropes
                    1. Why would you want him to throw less punches against a volume puncher? So Margarito can win rounds by just being the Busier of the two?

                    2. Why would you want him to stand in the middle of the ring? So he can be an easier tarket for Margarito who only comes forward?

You cant blame Cotto for his strategy how could he imagine he could beat on someone like that and them take it? He doesn need better conditioning tho because he needs to stick and move all night clinching will wear on him because Margo can just lay on him all night without expending any energy himself. Stay off the ropes and keep moving Margs not fast enough to catch him if he gets on his bike.
