Wow! Paul Williams turned down 1.5 mil, for Kelly Pavlik!

The facts are against. If you don't like Williams than just admit it. But you can't get away from the actual truth.

I don't like Williams.

1. Margarito fought Williams without Arum involved and Arum got paid.

Didn't know that he still got paid, i thought he was out his contract.

2. HBO turned down Williams-Santos and Williams-Sergie, already stated. Winky Wright was one of the few opponents HBO would approve for Williams. I think you need do some research because Williams' gets HBO some of their highest rating numbers for his fights.

Santos and Sergie fights being turned down wasn't mentioned, only stated in this thread that Santos isn't a draw. If there was another thread that said Hbo turned down Santos/Sergie then i missed it.

Didn't know Williams got good tv ratings for Hbo, now that holds weight.

3. Arum, on the record at least 1000000 times, said that he will NEVER do business with Al Haymon, Williams' co-manager. Arum uses that as his reason for turning down 4 million for a Williams-Margarito rematch. The letter that Arum sent to Goossen turning the offer down was printed live and clear on Yahoo Sports.

Arum won't do business with Haymon for Margarito but he will for Clottey?

I never read that Goosen contacted Arum on behalf of Williams, to get Clottey in the ring. If there was a thread i missed it.

What happened to that Margarito-Clottey rematch from last November? Canceled because Margarito wanted more time to relax, his own words, and then signed for Mosley while Clottey sits until 2009. Margarito-Mosley is about money,

Clearly, a money fight, but Cotto fought Mosley and it was his biggest test and now Margarito is going to fight Mosley and he is expect to demolish Mosley. Weird.

just like every other fight and the reason Clottey is sitting is because he brings no money to Margarito or Williams. Williams draws better than Mosley in Calif and he's not a Cali fighter.

When you say "draws" i assume that means Hbo ratings? Cause i know Mosley has never been a popular fighter that fills arenas without a name opponet. And i've read Williams didn't pack the house last time he fought.

He's going up in weight because HBO turned down several other fights. They are not interested in Williams fighting the WBO champion, Forrest turned Williams down on the record and Santos brings no money. When Williams fought Margarito, the purse bid was $1,506,250,and Goossen still put in more. Margarito received 80%^



Chris Lighty, CEO of Violater Records and Winky Promotions, came on here and offered Margarito 1.5 dollars upfront to fight Winky. They never heard from Margarito again. There was a lot to the story that you are leaving out. I should know we followed it in 2006.

This dumb mother****in TS didn't even read the article. Williams never turned down 1.5 M. Goossen asked Arum to negotiate a sum above the initial offer (1.5) and then Arum never got back to him and they learned through the press that Hopkins-Pavlik was being made. The TS is a dumb **** and has no reading comprehension what so ever. Paul has some nice weaponry though, ****. .40 Glock and an AR-15??? Not bad.

Props to the big bad boottee daddy BPP for clarifying what he knows about the situation. I'm assuming here, but based on what I've seen BPP post, he respects Williams and sees the old school generation style in him. Paul will fight anybody, any place, anytime. Maybe he needs to sign with the monopoly GBP to get the real big fights, but if he gets Winky and beats him that should at least get him Abraham as well.

2. Y'all didn't post this. The last and only time I've heard about HBO turning down a fight in the recent past has been Taylor-Froch. You guys keeping info to yourselves....? Anyway, Williams is lucky HBO turned down the Santos fight, stylistically he'd be Paul's nightmare and Santos catching him with clean, blind, hard left hands is much worse than Quintana.

Bottom line is: Arum can make more money in an all Top Rank rematch of Margarito-Cotto than 4 mil against P Will and he probably doesn't want to take as big a risk before it fighting him either.
