Why Won't People Respect Joe Calzaghe?

The reason most US people hate him is because he's totally embarressed one of the legends in the boxing sport and many people's favourite fighter ever, in Roy Jones Jr. We never expected Jones to beat Joe but we NEVER expected him to be embaressed, pushed around, hit so openly and look so amateurish as he done against Joe. That's a big compliment to Joe for doing that to Jones because no-one has EVER done that to him.

Jones looked lost, we felt sorry for him, people wanted him to quit in the 9th and onwards because we didn't want one of the best fighters ever to be embaressed by a Brit, but it happened.

Same with Lacy. He was our next big hope, our saviour. Then he goes over to UK and gets his ass handed by Joe, damn I remember sitting in my living room staring at my walls for 30 mins straight after the fight in shock at the way Joe demolished one of my favourite fighters at the time.

You can't expect us to love him after doing that to 2 of our best fighters.

See this is what i'm talking about BZ i've never claimed that Calzaghe is a legend killer and have often said that the Jones fight was about $$ for both of them and didn't mean anything.

But you cannot deny he fought multiple people who are or where world champions and the vast majority of his opponents where in the age that boxers would be considered "live" opponents.

RJJ killed himself getting to HW and result after which aren't worth much, certainly nothing like what they would have been before his rip up.

I been following boxing on-and-off since I was young because my Dad has always been a huge fan and I've been following it religiously for a few years now.

I've always kept track of Calzaghe's career, however, and do know what I am talking about.

Dude I've never seen Jones as bad as that, I nearly cried here in Chicago when I saw his face during that fight. Damn.
