Soon Gamboa moves up to 130 and Soto, Linares, Valero or any power puncher with a half decent chin puts him to sleep. You can't get dropped by every fringe contender you face and expect to do well against the elite. I can't hate though, he is very, very exciting and fun to watch. But a guy who lands 30 punches in a fight and is moving up in weight and has shown little power in the past shouldn't be dropping him.

I say he is a massive hype job, good, but too vulnerable.

Good points - Linares is a great talent and all around the best prospect out there... Juanma is my dude and I know he hasn't been tested - but based on what we've seen - if Juanma cracks down Ponce DeLeon (who is as tough/rugged as they come) - he will have ample opportunity to put Gamboa to sleep. Gamboa needs to integrate a defense with his offense - he's all O right now...if little guys are touching him up now - I don't know how his fans can't be concerned

For crying out loud Gamboa couldn't get rid of a guy who fought most of his career at 112 and was dropped by him . How does that lead anyone to the conlcusion that he will most likely be a multi weight undisuputed champion and #1 p4p for a couple years?

At least Arreola will get his ass kicked on HBO for 7 figures. Gamboa looks like he is hell bent on ending his own hype with Teddy Atlas on the mic.
i never once said he would have the accomplishments roy did... i was leading to the fact that when hes 34-35 he wont have any basics to fall back on when his reflexes start slowing down... which is exactly what i said in my first post.

That's right, you're a gamboa fan. Last night was the first time i watched him fight. He looked pretty solid. Of course he was gonna win, but that knockdown in the 2nd round made it interesting. I think it reminded Gamboa to get back on point.

Gonzalez made it past the 3rd round which is impressive enough against a sharp 27 year old.

I wanna see Gamboa climb the ranks a establish himself. He could move up to

Gamboa won't be around till he's 34 or 35. Probably 5 more years or so. Maybe less. He won't amount to anything amazing.

He was the 04 Olympic Champion at Flyweight, and has over 400 ammy fights. I dont think anyone could pull that off by 22.
Also he JUST turned 27 a couple of weeks ago.
