Wee to be honest, Hopkins once did say and I quote, "There is no fight I would take unless I was certain that I could win". He said something like that while he was considering moving up to heavyweight to fight Maskaev for the WBC HW title. He said he was certain he could beat Oleg but said he would never fight someone like Samuel Peter who he says is too big and strong for him.

And Hopkins is one of my favorite fighters but he could be thinking that stylistically, Dawson is too much of a problem and best he could do is make it an ugly fight and lost a decision again.

I like both so I'd rather see neither fight.
If bernard loses he ends his career with 6 losses and a final loss.
If Chad loses hes got no chance of being this undefeated great which he has potential to be. Nto that he cannot recuperate its just that it'll take time!

I think it's more of a case of him wanting to redeem himself because he kind of made himself look like an idiot by saying the white boy comment and then losing. He wants Joe more then anyone else right now. Maybe he's showing Chad Dawson no interest so he doesn't bug him.

I mean if Calzaghe retires (hopefully he'll make a decision in the next month or so), then Bernard will make up his mind then.

So I'm right to say that Chad Dawson "knows he can't beat Glen Johnson, so that's why there isn't a rematch"? Hopkins wants a Joe Calzaghe fight because he wants to avenge his loss. He might change his mind on Chad Dawson anyway if he knocks out Antonio Tarver or something.

Chad Dawson "knows he can't beat Adrian Diaconu" that's why he pulled out of a fight with him Of course that isn't true, but by your logic it sounds like it is.

Joe Calzaghe's workrate and speed is just as good as Chad Dawson's. A Jermain Taylor fight won't happen because there is no public interest.
Bernard won't fight him because hes smart, and hes know's he won't win the fight, its as simple as that. Big difference between Dawson not fighting Diaconu and Hopkins not fighting Chad. Dawson didn't fight Diaconu because Tarver was better known and a bigger money fight, and Chad stated that he had no problem fighting Diaconu. Lets not forget that Dawson was already signed to fight him two times, and Diaconu pulled out the first time with a week and a half left. Would Dawson have went that far and went through all of the training if he was scared? I'm not knocking Hopkins, hes a great fighter and he allowed to fight anyone he wants.

Dawson already beat Johnson, and he would unify with him if he beats Diaconu( which i see him doing) so that's not a problem. As for Joe being as fast as Dawson, i don't agree. I count power with speed and Dawson is not only more accurate and with his cleaner punches and more accurate punches, they stand out more than Joe's flurries( which is why Hopkins won rounds by only throwing a few shots a round). Dawson is much bigger than Joe and i feel is the better boxer and body puncher.

What i meant was that Hopkins knows fighters that has a bad style match up for him, and he sees that in Dawson. As far as him actually knowing that he'd lose the fight going in, of course not because he has pride. That's what i meant. Poor wording on my part.

Come on. Hopkins doesn't fear anybody. The man is a legend. Look at the last 5-7 guys he has fought. Dawson is fighting Tarver, hopefully Calzaghe doesn't duck Hopkins for a rematch, and then the two winners can face off. Dawson is a great prospect, and I'd like to see Calzaghe man up and fight Dawson, but I want to see Dawson beat Mr. Rematch one more time before I give him the praise I'm thinking of giving him.

hes a legend but hes not the most accomplished fighter by far........ floyd is more accomplished then him

Hopkis has no reason to fight dawson. the reward is next to nothing if hopkins wins, but if dawson wins, its a HUGE name on his resume. theres really no reason for hopkins to take the fight
