As a fan I want to see competitive matchs. Hopkins would be passing on the tortch to Dawson but Hopkins isnt' ready to lose again and Dawson could beat Hopkins.
Hindsight is clearly 20/20, rewind back a couple of months, and see that HBO was hyping Pavlik up as possibly the next American star boxer. Whether you thought so or not, that is what he was being hyped up to be.

yeah I saw that Hopkins was talking about how he dosen't want to fight a young guy like Dawson because he's the future of the division. Even though his last fight was against Pavlik who's also a young American fighter who was seen as the future of the m.w division

and then he mentions fighting Taylor(who's still reasonably young) for a third time

It's not so much about their age as where Taylor and Dawson are at in their careers. Dawson's star is still rising and Taylor's has peaked and been tarnished, and his future is a bit more uncertain. Taylor has the potential to become a major player again but will never be able to erase his losses and regain the allure of an undefeated world champion, while Dawson still has that ability.

I'm not saying BHOP would beat Dawson (I'd bet against it, actually), but there is the chance he does and it starts to make the future of the sport look bad if a 44 year old continues running around beating up on prime, undefeated fighters under 30 who have been touted as the stars of tomorrow.

          Hopkins clearly, picking his fights.
It's official : You scored Tarver Hopkins a DRAW. Therefore anything you say about Hopkins is worthless.

dawson would beat hopkins.dawson is 6-3, a southpaw, quick , wicked combo puncher, and very good defensively.i wanna see this fight happen.
dawson should go after taylor before hopkins does.
