I like Perro, but dont think he's the best of the 154 bunch. He's very one-dimensional to me. He hits hard but comes str8 forward with very little head or lateral movement. Its going to be interesting to see how he'd do against fighters like Kirkland & Vanes who give a lot of different looks and are quick on their feet....

Perro by horrendous KO in 5

I had him ahead going into the last round, as well. He did look pretty good in that fight, he also looked pretty good against Vargas. Then look what Shane does to him in the last round, it was pretty brutal. Thats his third brutal stoppage loss in his last five fights. He is still savvy and still has power, but he has slowed down a lot since his prime and been beaten up pretty badly. Angulo isnt a very good fight for him style wise, either. I cant see Mayorga keeping pace with Angulo for 12, and I cant see him standing up to Perro's power and volume.

Plus, Mayorga is a big puncher, and Angulo is open to get hit. I find this fight as a big risk, low reward fight for Angulo. He doesn't need to keep fighting these style of fights anymore, he needs to get more experience with other style of fights. I think Sergio Martinez is one of the best in this division, and i don't see Angulo having any real experience to beat him. I thought a good fight for him would be Sergio Mora. I guess the experience and the money was not there or it didn't make sense for Mora to take that fight.

while i do agree with you tthat angulo should start fighting different styles.. i disagree with you in the low reward thing...

risk.. yeah because mayorga can ****... but knowing where mayorga career is (almost at the end).. at this point if some comming up boxer doesnt have what it takes to handle mayorga knowing that almost anyone knows mayorga blue print... that would mean that angulo then doesnt belong to the elite.

but in the other hand is gonna be nice having mayorgas name under your resume.. because... like it or not.. mayorga is still a name out there who has only lost to big names and that will add a lil buzz to angulo....
and at the end.. thats what you want... create a buzz make ppl wanting to see you to get more money...

          very well said...

I too agree that Angulo would struggle against faster guys like Vanes and Kirkland.

He is one dimensional and fairly slow... so far he has faced opposition that is ideal for him in that they just come forward and just try to trade with him and of course get caught. Someone with a bit of technique and movement would give him lots of trouble.
