Your right Gomez had more title fights, but Haye was the only oneof the two who fought for a World Championship at cruiserweight. I think Gomez beats Haye, but truth is, Haye being the former Cruiserweight World Champion against one of the 2 best heavyweights since Lewis retired means more than said Heavyweight fighting a former cruiserweight titlist. And Gomez paid his dues in ******* and blew this paper title shot because of that after the his first fight with McCall. Haye means more than Gomez does, no feasible argument otherwise.

I think guys like you are idiots, cause Vitali HAS to give Gomez this shot. Gomez won two elimination bouts. is it so hard to understand?? Vitali could say that he doesnt want Gomez but then he would have to give the title away and rightfully so!! Vitali can fight Haye afterwards! It doesnt matter if Haye is better than Gomez, Gomez has earned his shot and he has to get it first!****ing Bull**** worthless fight. Gomez is a good fighter and all, but this fight trully means nothing to the division at the moment. Vitali/Haye means something to the division. Alphabet straps further ruin things, and Sulaiman pressed this fight to happen over a much more meaningful and interesting encounter between Vitali and David. Damnit Sulaiman, you need to disappear, I don't care how, just do.Last edited by Tobi.G; 01-09-2009, 01:17 AM.Comment

While I understand your point, the truth is, your missing the real point of boxing. Thats fine, I can't blame you, its the sanctioning bodies fault. Regardless of a worthless trinket title at stake or not, some fights are just more meaningful, and at this advanced stage if Vitali's and Wladimir's careers; they need to take the best fights out there for their supposed legacies. Vitali is often injured and is aging fast, you never know when his last fight will be. So the onus is more on him to take a fight against Haye over one against Gomez moreso than Wladimir, also Wladimir taking on Arreola will be great for him from an entertainment standpoint, not so for Vitali and Gomez. Several more important issues are at stake than a worthless WBC strap, and the sooner you come the grips with that, the sooner you'll see behind the BS in boxing and into the truth of boxing.I think guys like you are idiots, cause Vitali HAS to give Gomez this shot. I'm sorry but Haye has had a total of two fights in the HW division. Basically what many are saying here is that the guy with the loudest mouth and who talks the most crap should get the title shots in boxing. If that's the case the Mayorga should get yet another shot at a title just for being a great crap talker.
Gomez may not get the media attention of Haye, but he sure as hell deserves this fight.Comment

Yeah, so even if Haye did get Vitali Klitschko first [even though he has proven very little at heavyweight], Klitschko himself is not the future of the division. So you're trying to say that one fight is the future of the division? Is Haye going anywhere? Is he going off the face of the Planet next year? If Klitschko isn't the future of the division, why is a Haye-Klitschko fight the future? I think Haye would be much better off having a couple more fights and building up more hype while at the same time giving himself more experience at the weight. While I understand your point, the truth is, your missing the real point of boxing. I think it would be much worse for boxing if fighters got title shots all the time though sheer hype. I understand it's an entertainment business just as much as a sport, but there needs to be some middle ground. Klitschko was given the opportunity by the WBC to fight for the title after four years out. It would hardly be very nice to not repay the compliment. He wouldn't be in the position he is now if he wasn't given that opportunity.Comment

And you completely missed the point as well. Its not a real world title. Klitschko/Haye won't really bring us any closer to a real title shot either (the brother need to fight one another) but like you said they aren't the future, but we have no heavyweight champion right now, so at least meaningful fights against a former world champion (Haye) and a former world title contender and trinket titlist (Vitali) is more important than two former sanctioning body titlist. Gomez isn't the future either, and Haye doesn't need to prove himself at heavyweight. It was ok for Calzaghe to challenge for Hopkins world title at light heavyweight when he hadn't even fought at that weight before because he was a world champion at SMW. Thats the deal with Haye, he is a former world champion at cruiserweight where neither Klitschko brother have been champions yet they both have been the best heavyweight in the world at some point (Vitali 2004, and Wladimir 2006-present) in their careers.Yeah, so even if Haye did get Vitali Klitschko first [even though he has proven very little at heavyweight], Klitschko himself is not the future of the division. Gomez is a talent, this fight is gonna be pretty nice, not as exciting as Vitali vs Haye, for obvious reasons, but it may very well be a harder fight for Vitali.
I get the feeling Haye will get Wlad instead, so the exciting HW fight is guaranteed.Comment
