I just get confused how ppl can watch that version of Oscar - one that was barely responsive; barely threw a punch; and barely seemed to have his eyes open - and say "yeah, that is Oscar, Pac beat a prime, fine and healthy Oscar".

I may be a little bit of a DLH nuthugger, just a bit, but there is no ***n way that was the real De La Hoya. Nothing against Pac, but a prime and healthy version of Oscar destroys him.

I agree with what you are saying about DLH not being his prime version that night. Time plays a great deal in boxing and it's clear, in my opinion, DLH should now retire. But DLH knew what he was getting into months prior to fight night. Clocks only go forward.

You're bringing it down to triangle theory... like "if Taylor can beat Hopkins twice and Pavlik beats Taylor twice, why can't Pavlik beat Hopkins?"... it doesn't work like that. Most people had Pavlik beating Hopkins (I didn't) before the actual fight. Just as most people had Oscar beating Pac.

My dude, people said exactly the same things about Oscar, then called those of us who put bets on Manny idiots.

Let me be honest with you. Not long ago I said I don't think Pac can beat Margarito. This was only just a few weeks ago. What I'm saying now is, if Manny believes in himself so much that he thinks he can outbox Marg, I won't doubt it. Reason why is because in the past when he's said he can beat another fighter, he proved he was absolutely right and a lot of people completely wrong. Before the Barrera fight in 2003, I said there's no way he's gonna win, I was a big Barrera fan at the time and I thought he was leagues above Manny, but he shocked the hell out of me. Not only did he beat him, he beat the living **** out of him. I have never doubted him since. When he says he thinks he can beat Margarito, I have a hard time not believing it. I'll also make a bet with anyone if this fight does happen.

No doubt it's a big task, and of course he might fail miserably, but I cannot fail to admire the guy's courage to step where most others (including Mayweather) would not. For me, that's what it's all about. We're witnessing a very special fighter here.

By the way, it is a fair fight if Manny wants it. It's not like he's being forced to fight Marg at gunpoint. Manny thinks he can do it, so let him try. Probably won't even happen, but I hope it does.

Margarito is just too much of a beast in there. He won't do what Oscar did, he will return fire, and when he does Pac won't be able to just box circles around him like he did against Oscar that night. He is just too big and too strong, simple as that. I respect that you want to believe in your boy, that is understandable, but I just can't see how it is possible.
