Andre Ward Wants a Crack at Jermain Taylor Next

2004 Olympic gold medal winner Andre Ward (17-0, 12KOs) wants to make a statement in 2009. One of the names at the top of his list is former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor, who won bronze at the 2000 Olympic Games. [details]

This would be a very good fight, it's a pretty big step up for Ward even though he looked better than he has before in his last fight.

Thats a big step up from guys like Rubin Williams & Jerson Ravelo.... Not saying he couldn't do it, but there are plenty of opponents in between the level of guys he has fought and Taylor (who is somewhere between #2-#5 in the division).

He should look at guys like Green, Zuniga, or Manfredo jr.
If he wants to make a splash look at someone like Miranda or Lacy.
Maybe even try out against another up and comer like Inkin or Dirrell.

Going straight for Taylor is alittle extreme.

Man I agree, he should fight someone a couple level above his last victims not someone like Taylor who's miles above.

Wow, gotta love the attitude, going after a big name. I like Ward and I think he could be a big star.

Yes, that is quite a bit of arrogance on Ward's part. Jermaine Taylor is still very game and looked really polished in his last fight. Ward has not fought anyone near JT's league, I wonder why he is in such a rush to get in there.

With that type of jump, you have to assume that the fighter approached his promoter and asked to make the fight, probably not the other way around as the 168 lb division is full of names that Ward could have taken on and had an easy step up and chance at victory.

With that said, if the young warrior wants it, and so does JT, make the fight!

If Dibella makes this fight and ducks Froch again he is a joker of the highest calibre.

He know's the Cobra will end his fighter's career.
