i dunno how he thought that would prove he is a great, i still think all he did was fight bums and the great fighters he fought were past it
What you fail to mention is the fact that it was Jones called out Calzaghe, not the other way round. Jones was calling for it after his last few fights. He had worked his way back into the game and into position for a top fight.

Whatever you think of Calzaghe, I don't actually care, but you should state facts, even when posting hate messages. Posting your own incorrect / biased version of events weakens your argument.

As for Calzaghe, I don't think he thinks beating Roy makes him great, he has been very clear that he merely wanted Roy's name on his resume "because it looks good." In other words, it's no secret that even Joe Calzaghe himself doesn't think of his beatdown of Jones as a great thing.

I believe its got worse, as a matter of fact i predicted it would, because for one, Roy is universally loved by majority of Boxing fans and when Tarver beat him it did Tarver no favours either. Tarver became public enemy number 1 for beating Jones.

Calzaghe fought his 2nd fight in the States against another 40 + year old who whos career was done in 2004.
After so many years hiding in his backyard and finally coming here and facing 2 40+year olds didnt earn him anything. and the fact that he wont give Hopkins a rematch makes him even more despised....

Joe's reputation has gotten worse it seems because of the comments he made about the sport "dying". I don't care about his P.R. image, but if he is going to go on with his career, he should fight Chad Dawson. Or if Joe retires, no one will miss him.

I don't think anybody could necessarily hate Joe for beating Jones, they both wanted the fight, both went there to win, and Joe came out on top, both fighters were very respectful to each other so there is no need to hate either fighter, I wouldn't have hated Jone's if he beat Calzaghe, though if the fight was 6-7 years ago I would have predicted a Jones win... but since 2004 he hasn't really been the same. I bet some people aren't happy for the fact that he fought Jones when he was past it, but they both wanted the fight so there is nobody to blame. **** happens and people gotta deal with it.

Yeah I agree with you there, that wouldn't have helped his reputation for people and would have upset a lot of big boxing fans like myself, but he is only expressing his opinion, something he is entitled to. I am disappointed with him saying that the sport is dying and I disagree with him, but i do agree with the point he made about there being 4 world titles in each weight class... I think if there was less the division's would be more competitive.
