Vitali Klitschko vs. Juan Carlos Gomez on March 21

    From Fight News:

    Klitschko-Gomez Update

Looks like WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko will likely defend against mandatory challenger Juan Carlos Gomez on March 21, possibly in Stuttgart, Germany. Gomez’ manager Ahmet Öner told BILD that Gomez, who has been running on Southern California beaches through the holidays, will set up camp in Mallorca. The two sides are hoping to finalize the agreement as soon as today. Reportedly the Klitschkos’ initial offer of $1.2 million has been upped to $1.6 million.

Glad to see Vit get in the ring quickly. Forget this Haye in June nonsense. Haye should take a March fight as well, rather than sit around talking.

Gomez has earned his shot. If Haye wants to fight and beat Vladimir Virchism too, then he'll have earned it as well.

He'll still likely be fighting Haye sometime June to August - but it will be for the WBC title.

good no the pathetic haters and cry babies can shut the fu.ck up because vitali is defending the damn belt AND fighting a respectable name, in fact one of the few/last respectable/good names left in the division AND still gonna woop haye's ass. it must make the haters utterly squirm that the klitschkos are doing EVERYTHING RIGHT and annihilating all the competition.

It's good to see they remain active. I thought Vitali waiting until June to fight Haye was a ridiculously long time.

I wasn't happy when I saw that HBO wanted Wladimir vs. Arreola on May 16, because that wouldn't leave him enough time to have three fights in 2009.

Ideally, I'd like to see Wlad fight Haye in March or early April, then Povetkin in the summer, and Arreola in late November or in December.

It's good to see Vitali staying active and it's also good to see Gomez get his shot. I wonder if HBO will pick this up or if it'll be on Showtime again.

this is terrible news. first of all because I was really looking foward to Haye vs. Vitali. I thought that fight was a done deal already!
second of all because that means that Vitali actually plans to keep the WBC belt. I dont fault Gomez for his title shot...he HAS earned it...but this means that Vitali's fight after Gomez(assuming he won) would not be against a worthwhile fighter, but against Oleg Maskaev, because the WBC already has declared Maskaev the next mandatory.

                    thats irritating.
