Paul Williams-Winky Wright Not Finalized, Says Peterson

George Peterson, manager and trainer for WBO interim-junior middleweight champion Paul Williams, has advised BoxingScene.com that a fight with Winky Wright has not been finalized. As we reported yesterday (Click Here To Read), a member of Team Winky advised BoxingScene that an agreement was reached with 50-50 split between the fighters. The fight, should the contracts get signed, will move forward in April on HBO at the middleweight limit. [details]

my fingers are crossed. I really don't care to see this fight. There are plenty of other fighters out there(like forrest) that I would rather see in the ring against Williams.

Even after a 2 year lay off i think Winky will win this fight surprisingly easy. Like Williams, Winky has a very long reach and PW will probably eat his jab all night. Remember Williams was outboxed by Quintana, PW excuse was that he put on too much weight after the weigh in and ended up almost 170lbs that made him sluggish. If this fight is at 160 then PW will end up having a repeat of his first fight with Quintana.

if p-will loses to a 38 year old boxer who is coming off of a 2 year layoff and has only 1 win in his last 3 fights then he should retire.

Agreed. But I'm positive it will not happen.

Winky aint no B-Hop when it comes to staying in shape. We all saw him eating them crispy cream donuts when he was training for B-Hop.

The guy has probably slowed down alot but will still have his turtle shell defense and the jab. But it aint enough against a guy who can throw 100 punches per round and, who has a long reach and a good chin.

Paul will pound him all night long against his gloves and body and win a UD.

Are you a fight fan? Do you live in a cave? Perhaps of low IQ?
