DELAHOYA wanted to fight the smaller guy, so he can say he beat the #1 p4p, but the plan backfired, he's the one who got beat up, end of story!!!

i agree 100% with the writter. This whole thing of losing so much weight when ur at the end of ur career is horrible. Roy Jones did it, Tarver did it, Byrd did it and now Oscar.

Mad respect to Pacman but Oscar didnt even touch him the whole fight, but he gave Floyd a close fight. Its one thing being somewhat fat like in the Sturm fight and coming down, but when your in shape and you still go lower it kills u.

And also that whole notion about nacho saying he looked great, if you really buy that your really closed minded. You think a few weeks before the fight Nacho is going to tell Oscar "yo we should cancel the fight"

How many fighters have gone out and embarressed themselves after having a big training camp. Training camp and at the fight is a huge difference.

Morales, Tyson, Evander, Roy Jones, Gatti, Chavez, Ray Leonard, Ali, etc. etc

The writer couldn't have said it better. I've been going along the same route. Roach and Ariza, Manny's conditioning guru, had said it over and over that it's too dangerous for de la hoya to have gone down in weight much too early in his training. Having done so, he had trained his mind and body to believe he's a natural 147-guy. So when it was time for him to add necessary mass to his body after the final weigh-in, his body and mind just would not respond. He couldn't take that food he needed to get himself up to at least 152 0r 154 where he fights best. This writer was right in all angles. In that fight size didn't matter but weight did.

          Scientific explanation!

I support Pacman on all of his fight, but, the DLH fight was a no brainer, Pacman is good, but DLH was in terrible shape, He looks good, but can't perform good after loosing all those weights. IT'S SCIENCE PEOPLE!!!

I noticed that it's only the fans who keep bringing up this "oscar was weightdrained" stuff when those people who was there with him on training like Dundee and Nacho said that Oscar was in great shape.
Why is that? They act like they know them better that those two.
Oscar himself said that he was in shape.
Tell me tombstoneV111, what do you think Oscar could've done different if he wasn't "dehydrated".

Great article. When i heard the weight he had to fight at, at first i thought he'd be dead weight on fight night. Then i started seeing the "Countdown" on hbo and they fooled everybody, they made Delahoya look like there was no weight problems. But little did we know. Delahoya didn't look right on fight nigh looked pale and weak. I wouldnt' even call that a fight.

You pac fans have the same excuse for Pac getting knocked the **** out by that other guy not named torrecampo.

Boxing fans and historians that follow boxing know the difference and Delahoya was weight drained. If i was his trained i'd save face and say he was in great shape too.

actually ive read many articles where former fighters not connected to any body said the same thing. sport doctores that work for the commision have said the same thing, its de la hoya haters and pacman fans who just blow it away as an excusse, but it was oscars fault that he was weight drained no one elses, he choose the team, even dundee hinted at him beig overtrained

I bet if a little research is done we'll find that this writer profits in some way shape or form from the Golden Boy Enterprise. I'm sure its all propoganda...he had world class trainers that would have noticed problems due to effects of weight loss etc in sparring plus most of it was documented on 24/7. DHL is still great butt excuses will actually diminish his greatness...its best to say Pacquiao is greater right now at 147 period.
