i wasnt referring to jones, he is probably one of the only ones who didnt duck calzaghe.

        hopkins
        ottke
        beyer
        collins

        etc all ducked him.

jones is actually pretty strange ive never heard any other fights licking someones bollocks so much as i hear for him. not long ago bernard hopkins basically admitted jones was better than him comparing him to robinson, leonard etc.

calzaghe beat jones though so thats all that matters.

i think joe has the style to really bother RJJ, he fights for every minute of every round, he's quick, in his prime he had a mighty punch, great stamina and nothing that RJJ does will mean that he scores a KO.

you could say that RJJ has the best style to beat JC as well, a smart counter puncher with blindingly quick hands and fast combo's. it is the one fight i wish i could make over the last 5-10 years.

i dont think RJJ ever really wanted a piee of JC neither, RJJ was always thinking about the HW's, joe wasnt a big enough name and in order for them to make the biggest purse they would have had to do it in cardiff imo.

It would be a great fight and much more competitive than there first bout. Even now at the age of 39 Jones has incredible speed to bad his reflexes and stamina had left him years ago. The fight didn't happen for many reasons,to blame one fighter is a bit foolish but IMO this recent fight between Jones and Calzaghe shouldn't of happened. In his book Joe talks about not wanting to fight Jones because he has nothing left but then he makes the fight when Roy is a shell of his former self. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth but a name is a name and Jones is certainly one.....

Some of you should check out hbos bio on calzaghe. They even said that Calzaghe wanted Roy earlier in Roy's career yet Roy would always price himself out. Hbo writes the checks, so I do not see why they would lie.

I'm sure there was more to it than just money, probably wanting the fight in Wales.

If you are going to try and break America, facing a Prime RJJ is not a good way to do it, lose/lose situation, lose and you're another bum, win and you beat America's poster boy and everyone hates you.

I'm not one of those who says that Calzaghe would beat RJJ but he has a better chance than all but a couple of people RJJ fought.

That said I think he would beat the RJJ Tarver fought because of the damage that going to HW did to him. RJJ was never the great he was before that.
Many don't like him now since he faced them while they were old...He would have gotten more respect if he beat Jones in his prime imo. Don't think he could have though.

Why wouldn't Calzaghe mention this in any interviews? Especially in his auto biography where he states Jones is a shot fighter who he has nothing to gain from by fighting him
