Back when I didn't know anything about the sport other than Mayweather, I didn't like Duran because he was a threat to my favorite fighter being the best at something.

I can't imagine I'm the only one who felt like that.

Saying that anything is obvious for an entire group of people to feel is pretty shallow... you honestly think everyone thinks the same way?

You think Skills hates Duran because he is black and Duran is latino? That's absurd man... I have to tell you.

I'm guessing they don't like the fact an african-american retired undefeated while going through 5 weight classes something duran couldn't do.

eventhough floyd never quit in the ring like duran I hear him called on a daily basis mostly by latino's

just curious why do you hate mayweather jr so much
Mayweather retired undefeated goin through 3 and a half weightclasses. Not 5.

He spent 3 years at welterweight only fighting dudes that he shoulda fought at 140. And only fighting once at 154 against a dude that was really a welterweight himself.

Let's see Mayweather fight a hundred fights and see how long he goes undefeated.

Oh wait....39 fights and he's retired already because supposedly he cant hang anymore.

Brandish... to be honest, you did make an unprovoked thread about why Duran is overrated to the max.

If that's your opinion, that's fine, but you can't expect retaliatory posts to come back.

The opinion you hold about Duran's resume is not held by most people, and is actually looked at as absurd by the general bulk of boxing fans. Just as you are entitled to your opinion that Duran barely cracks top 20 ATG status, other people are just as entitled to say that Duran smokes Mayweather in 3 (which also absurd IMO).

Plus, it's generally people who refuse to see sense when it comes to their fighter that irk people.

It's not just Mayweather fans, it's the hardcore fans of every fighter.

Super Calzaghe fans are easy to hate. Super Pacquiao fans are easy to hate. Super Mayweather Jr. fans are easy to hate.

It just goes with the territory.

Your opening post makes no sense. The only times that race seems to come up is when people get involved in super emotional arguments and pull the race card, because they are uncomfortable with their ability to argue their point without pulling bull**** cheap shots like that.

So... moral of the story. Sin City and Brandish... play nice. Neither of you are innocent in not pouring gasoline on the fires that these arguments start with.
naw amn you know what I am talkking about floyd gets disrepected on this baord every day, I didn't call duran out of his name , he is not top ten and I gave a detailed reason why, other people attacked me for being racist, for some odd reason, I have never said anything disparaging about duran other then the truth.

some cats can't handle the fact that duran quit in no mas and was 1-5 aginst the best of his generation. no one has presented any reason why duran would get ranked in the top 5 or even top 10 based on what he accomplsihed in the ring. I can find 20 fighters who accomplished more.

That's the Duran Mayweather/B-Hop fans love to know. The odd thing is, you'll tell me you love B-Hop for his amazing defense and smarts right? So, why would you not like Duran? Go have a look at De Jesus 3 or Leonard 1 and tell me if Mayweather would not get hit that much against a prime Leonard at welterweight.

'Cause I'm with you in a way. My favourites are the so called 'more skillful' fighters, if you dig what I'm saying. Toney, Duran, Hopkins, Locche, Mayweather, not so much Jones Jr (thought I still love watching him), Whitaker, McCallum, etc etc etc etc. All my favourites, but it makes me wonder....you think Hop or Floyd has great skills when they show them against slow plodding types whereas an aggressive non stop fighter does the same thing against one of the fastest combination punchers in the history of the welterweight division and you go "Who was he? That hack that got shot down by Hearns? lol lol lol Mayweather would pwn that ass mofo!"

You know why most good defensive fighters are counters punchers right? Because they can't fight defensively, as Duran could, while being on the offensive. It's ten thousand times harder because you're left open so much more which means your defense has to be a whole lot better than if you're just hanging back waiting for the other guy to lead. Very impressive if you've actually fought and realise how hard it is to do what he did.

Well, where are guys like Jofre, Pep, B. Leonard etc? You know that Benny Leonard's resume utterl;y ****s on just about every single one of the fighters you have in that list? Seriously.

Go have a look at who he beat and for how long and tell me he isn't ten times the fighters of most of the guys on that list. I mean, you have Pryor ahead of Benny Leonard? That is why people think you are an idiot racist fool with no brain.

He criticizes Duran for not being great above 135-147 against prime Hearns, Hagler, Benitez, but the first time Pryor stepped out of the LWW weight class (at age 31), he was stopped by a journeyman named Bobby Joe Young and actually quit in that fight.

Yet Duran is supposedly still in his prime at 33 years of age as a light middleweight.
