Well said, BTW Spidersilva, Hopkins has names on his resume that would be considered Calzaghe's Biggest wins. So i would not go down that route mate

Calslapyyyy needs to stick to fighting old men...... If he goes anywhere near Dawson he will get KTFO, As for being a Paper Champ i agree and disagree why he has fought good fighters such as Eubank, Lacey, kessler but out of there primes Hopkins and Roy Jones (they would have smoked him in there primes) nearly all of his fights were in his hometown..... Calslappyyyy still has a lot to prove To be classed as a real champion!!!!

Oh really. And that's a fact, is it? Shame on Hopkins for backing out of the 2002 fight then, isn't it. If it would be so easy for Hopkins to "smoke" Calzaghe, why turn a fight down with JC for 3 million and take a fight with Morade Hakkar instead for 1.25 million? Surely "smoking" Calzaghe would have been a better win than beating up Hakkar?

Only 17 out of 46 fights were in Wales. Buy a calculator.

Id like Calzaghe beat Dawson as for rematch with Hopkins it would be a mis-match. No way can Calzaghe be that bad and no way will there be a ref that lets Hopkins hold so much.

Calzaghe has also beat two young undefeated fighters that both were favoured over him.

Well, Hopkins had already agreed to the fight, so your comment "who'd go to wales to fight a nobody?" doesn't hold much weight at all. Who's even saying the fight would have been in Wales? Have you seen any contracts?

How much did Hopkins earn for the Hakkar fight?

Calzaghe should have gone to Hopkins and Jones? Jones demanded too much money dude, Warren would never put up the kind of money he asked for, just as Roy wouldn't fight Michalczewski for less than 25 million. Hopkins already priced himself out just one day before the contract was due to be signed, basically pricing himself out by asking for double the amount they had already agreed upon (6 million).

Apart from all this, neither of them were in Joe's division. Hopkins skipped SMW and went from 160 to 175 in 2006.

Jones hasn't fought at SMW since 1996, a whole year before Calzaghe even became a champion.

What's next? Hatton should start calling out middleweights and chasing them around, asking for a fight?

When he says in Wales, he means in the UK. You know what he means, so don't act desperate mate..

As for Hopkins "backing out" lol?

The whole point was Hopkins not coming to the UK to fight a someone with a WBO holder.

It's the same thing as say Chad Dawson going to fight Lucian Bute. I mean why would he want to do that for?

Hopkins was undisputed for most of his MW career.
Calzaghe held the shabby WBO belt for 10 years, was undisputed for 1 day and went to LH.

The only people who rate him are idiots thinking beating a 40 year old man, who is 3-3 in his last 6 fights is something "special", and surviving against a 43 year old and taking a dodgy SD decision is something to write home about.

I dont think i have ever seen a career with such a big question mark on it.

I mean, the fact that as soon as he fired Frank Warren, and Frank Warren exposed Calzaghe, such as his desire to always want to pull out of fights etc. says it all

There is a difference between "Backing out" and not going ahead with a bout.

The bout was never going officially going ahead in the first place, so how did he back out?

Like i said, the fight was nothing then.

in 2002, Calzaghe was nothing but small fish. The same level as Lucian Bute

What do you call agreeing the terms of a fight and then all of a sudden asking for double of what he was getting?
