As soon as Calzaghe ditched Warren, he came to the USA and fought the names he always wanted to fight in Hopkins and Jones. He was desperate for a fight with Hopkins going back as far as 7 years ago, and indeed, he had a fight scheduled with him in 2002. Blame Hopkins for backing out of the agreement, not Joe.

I have seen a number interviews and post-fight interviews from many years ago where he said Hopkins was his ultimate fight. Don't get me wrong, Calzaghe ain't no angel, he should have ditched Warren long ago, and I think he probably realizes that now, but it was too late.

    Chris Eubank
    Roy Jones
    Bernard Hopkins
    Mikkel Kessler
    Robin Reid
    Byron Mitchell
    Charles Brewer
    Omar Sheika
    Jeff Lacy
    Sakio Bika
    Richie Woodhall
    Mario Veit

There are some excellent names, and a few slightly less than stellar ones, but all of them are solid wins and nothing to be ashamed of. Going back to Hagler, undoubtedly a top 5 greatest middleweight of all time, if you remove Duran, Hearns and Leonard from his resume, it becomes significantly less impressive. Most average boxing fans wouldn't recognize so many of the names that are left. It's cool though, it doesn't take anything away from his greatness.

My point stands: Calzaghe doesn't have the worst resume of all time by a long shot.
To bad the question was who is the biggest(most famous) boxer with the most bums on his record. Not to mention washed up old men. The obvious answer is Gayzaghe so get a grip.

this question is pretty ignorant. In one's boxing career there is only a handful of great fighters to face. and the rest are people you MUST defeat to get to fight these great fighters. No one has 40 hall of famers on their resume. People are so ignorant! It's sad such a great sport has some ******ed fans.

It became common as time went on because the only people who used it were ones who used it among themselves...talking to each other, dissing fighters who make it possible for them to even have a job in the first place...bum is the wrong word...people see a guy with a terrible record and incorrectly label him...it's a word that has become accepted and common by certain people, so often used, but it is still the wrong word...there are many, many reasons why guys lose more fights than others and they definitely are not all because he cannot fight...there are pro fighters out there with terrible looking records who, if you saw them fight and ddint know their records, you wouldnt guess it...other guys come to fight, try hard and lose, period...totally unjust to call them bums...I am always aware of a few things: 1 is that just because a guy isn't famous, undefeated or has a great record it doesnt mean he can't fight...I also know that there are guys out there who fight for reasons other than to make millions and become famous/a champion...they dont get opportunities and they dont have the proper backing, etc...but they have talent, skills, power etc etc that world champs would envy. Guys who if you ever saw them in a gym somewhere sparring with a world champion you wouldnt be able to know for sure by watching who the better fighter was.

ANYONE who trains for a fight, waits in that dressing room and then walks out to go to battle, especially against someone who he knows his chances of beating are slim at best, is still doing something 99.99999999 percent of the population has ever done and something 89.9999 percent of the population would even have the courage to attempt
I'm sorry but I just can not except that. Why out of all the major sports is it acceptable to be below average and get a paycheck. In other sports even the sub par performing athletes are in tremendous condition and are amazing at what they do, some guys just rise above the rest. If they can't perform at that level they either move down (i.e major to minor leagues/baseball) or retire. In boxing you have guys that are so bad they don't even possess fundamental boxing skills. They'd get their butt handed to them even in a street fight. Fat and out of shape, obviously not prepared or haven't even trained for the fight, they don't take something that others dedicate their life to, with any seriousness. Now THAT I find disrespectful. I feel that the best should compete against the best, that would make boxing even more credible. By the way I have fought and know the guts it takes to get in that ring. Nowhere am I near the level of some of the guys who are mentioned on this post, or the so called "journeymen" that they've fought against, but I still use the word as do other boxers, not just writers and critics who don't know what they're talking about. In a discussion between Cus D'Amotto, (one of the greatest trainers of all time) and Muhammad Ali, (one of the greatest fighters of all time) the word "bum" was thrown back and forth, when referring to Ali and Joe Louis' opponents. I think those guys knew a little something about what it takes to be a boxer and had respect for the fight game and fighters and yet they used the term freely.
