yeah an average boxer would kick these guys as if it remained stand up...

but you have to remember that mir and nogera have good ground games. Mir knew he had to keep the fight on his feet because noguera always wins on his back.

if either guy fought a decent HW, they'd go for the takedown asap imho.

If you like MMA cool whatever but here sums it all up:

            Griffin-Evans HEADLINING A PPV card-Reality stars!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could you imagine Mora-Manfredo headlinig a PPV? OF COURSE NOT

The problem here is it is SO SLOPPY TO WATCH. Most UFC fighters are former college wrestlers who take a crash course on Boxing and therefore to the trained eye it looks sloppy and ridiculous to watch but to the casual moron it looks good. Fine they great wrestlers but Brady is a great QB but would you pay to watch him play LB? NOPE...Just like a college wrestling fan wouldn't wanna see Margarito wrestle after a little wrestling training. Bottom line UFC sells because the casual clown has no idea what is going on and has A.D.D so UFC sells.

The only fighters in MMA that become champs are fighters that are good at everything. Any fighter that is ONLY good at striking or ONLY good at the ground game will not become champion.

Mir beat Noguiera with strikes because Noguiera has a great ground game but isn't so great at stand-up. Mir himself has a great ground game but he knew that even he would not likely be able to submit one of the greatest ground fighters in the history of MMA so he didn't try. Now, if you put Wlad in the ring with Mir, you think Mir will try and strike with him? lol, no way. he will go straight for the takedown and either try and submit him or ground and pound him to victory.

If you do not get this basic concept and continue to make DIRECT comparison's between the 2 sports, then you are a ******...... plain and simple.
His whole thread is low IQ. If you can't understand that you have to fight the guy in front of you, then you will never understand how to fight at all. Fuego is just a bit obsessed in his need to pretend that boxers, and especially Mayweather, could never be beaten by someone that can't do a shoulder roll counter.

I really liked the "Chad Dawson would beat anyone with just circling and jabbing." Yeah, because they're just going to stand in the middle of the cage waiting for him aren't they?

Hey Fuego, answer this. Have a look at Dawson's last fight. Now, watch when they both come in and get ready to jab or throw or whatever right? Now, do you think a guy that trains every day could get to his legs? Just get to his legs? Just touch his legs, not hit him or submit him or anything, just get close enough to touch his legs at the knees? Watch the tape and tell me what you think. Oh, wait, let me guess, you're going to say that Dawson could just skip out of the way and counter right? Just like that.

Yeah because we all know guys like Mir and Nogueira wouldnt be able to take a boxer down and submit them or pound them out in a cage, right?
Its two different sports, let it be. Yes, boxers are better boxers than MMA fighters, MMA fighters are also better MMA fighters than boxers, thats the truth.

You call the sport **** yet you sat there and watched the whole event I'm not a fan of UFC, and i'd watch boxing over UFC any day of the week but your post is as ignorant as it gets.
so after getting killed for a round and a half, suffering two knockdowns, why didn't Nogueria attempt a takedown?

Me thinks because he was being absolutely destroyed by what can laughingly be called boxing in the center of the ring

But MMA and boxing are just 2 different sports, and it should be left at that.
Exactly. They are different. They're both sports with rules. It's not even real fighting. Real fighting, if you want to get into what is the best way to fight (or which is better, more skilled, would beat the other), is using a gun and shooting someone in the face. Dead straight away, you win in way less than a second. Best fighting style there is.

Boxing is a sport about money and entertainment. MMA is a different sport, also about entertainment. Vastly different, but both involve two guys or girls trying to hurt each other in different ways. Neither is better because they involve different rules. Boxrer's are best at boxing and mixed martial artists are best at MMA. Really ****ing simple. What's the best way to hurt someone though? Read above.

I just want to know why Noguiera never got close to doing anything successful against Mir, who was controlling every aspect of the fight with what I guess we could call "boxing"

Why did he never get past the simple jabs and sloppy uppercut attempts?
