howver, if you put nog in the ring with a klitschko, what the **** do you think hes gonna do? stand in front of them? bull****, he will go for a takedown ASAP and make the boxer his ***** literally within SECONDS

an mma fight is not an accurate represntation of how a fight between a boxer and mma fighter would go. you ****in uneducated pieces of **** need to stop making these comparisons.

in a boxing ring, klitscko KO's nog within seconds. in an mma ring nog subs klitschko even FASTER

and you boxing nuthuggers only defense is "roilling and grappling is gay"

seriously grow the **** up u ****phobs....is that all you can say? you have to resort to childish jokes about 2 men hugging? lame...what about when ****** boxers like hatton hug all ****in day long...if you grapple a day and see how hard it actually is and how bad you'll get owned and how bad you will gas out the first few months, you wouldnt be talking ****...ive boxed and taken jiu jits and i love both sports, but you people seriosly need to get ****in educated about the sport of fighting #1, and #2 you need to stop using "grappling is gay" as an excuse because that ****s lame u ****s
I don't think it's gonna be that easy for a wrestler or BJJ master to take down an elite prizefighter. Of course, the right boxer w/ a certain style would have to be chosen for the cage. Remember, even in MMA the fight starts standing up. I mean, these wrestlers/BJJ guys don't even know how to work their way in to get a takedown against mediocre strikers in the UFC, I mean, just look at how well Lidell's career has turned out, making tons of $$$ ko'ing these fools with sloppy ass punches a boxer would've picked up on. I'm not even talkin' about Lidell's "takedown defense" These Grade A wrestlers that you're talkin' about simply walk into punches period(lol).

Somethin' tells me that if a boxer with no grappling background were to start wrestlin' or BJJ that he'd pick it up quicker than if a wrestler or BJJ w/o a striking background were to start out boxing or do kickboxing.

If the guy had been doing BJJ then he's no longer just a plain boxer he's no a mixed martial artist.

Another thing is even if a boxer started taking BJJ today do you really think that he could hang with a world class guy that's done it his whole life?

Even oif he learned BJJ he still has to deal with kicks knees elbows headbutts ect.

Well, then he's not a boxer anymore, he's an MMA fighter. But that stuff still isn't easy to pick up.

David Haye did an interview not long ago where he slated Enzo Maccarinelli's thoughts about trying MMA. He basically stated that he would try land clean shots on MMA guys before they could score a takedown at his gym. He said he'd get taken down before he could land the shot 8/10.

When it comes to a boxer in MMA, I think its really about the boxer's style. A guy like Floyd who shoulder rolls a lot wouldn't make it as far as a guy like Pacquiao, even though Floyd could probably beat Manny in boxing. I see Manny's straight left landing on anyone in the standup game. It's much faster than a kick, or any mma fighter's hands.
Or a guy like Tyson would do good in the standup because he had more of a squared stance.

            I agree.

I also think most boxers could get taken down very easily, then its game over.

But MMA and boxing are just 2 different sports, and it should be left at that.

Liddell was a division 1 wrestler in college.

The only fighters in MMA that become champs are fighters that are good at everything. Any fighter that is ONLY good at striking or ONLY good at the ground game will not become champs.

Mir beat Noguiera with strikes because Noguiera has a great ground game but isn't so great at stand-up. Mir himself has a great ground game but he knew that even he would not likely be able to submit one of the greatest ground fighters in the history of MMA so he didn't try. Now, if you put Wlad in the ring with Mir, you think Mir will try and strike with him? lol, no way. he will go straight for the takedown and either try and submit him or ground and pound him to victory.

If you do not get this basic concept and continue to make DIRECT comparison's between the 2 sports, then you are a ******...... plain and simple.
These guys are so dumb and dont know jack**** about mma. And it is so ****** to talk **** about mma in a boxing forum. It's like some tribe in the Amazon talking **** about how they have this bad ass bow and arrow for hunting while they dont know the rest of the world are using guns LOL.
Also if you think mma is ****, go to a mma gym and challenge the guys there to a fight to find out how ****ty they really are, ******.

Noguiera would immediately take a boxer down and make the boxer tap like a *****. Mir is a good wrestler as well therefore Noguiera did not go for a take down. As you seen Mir would not go to the ground with Noguiera even when he had him on the floor he allowed him to get up. You call the sport **** yet you sat there and watched the whole event I'm not a fan of UFC, and i'd watch boxing over UFC any day of the week but your post is as ignorant as it gets.

Yeah and, I don't think they were teaching how to throw overhand rights at Cal-Poly. The overhand right was Lidell's million dollar punch. He didn't even have to resort to his wrestling in most of his fights, Sobral and other wrestlers/BJJ guys simply walked in like idiots and got cracked with the right hand, where's the Div 1 Wrestling in that??
