I'm not sure I'd agree, sl333py. I think Jones and Hopkins both have more power than Lacy, and Lacy's power is possibly over-rated. One thing I couldn't help noticing in the Calzaghe-Lacy fight was Joe's comments to Enzo in the corner, "he can't punch ****." If by that he meant Lacy's punches didn't have much on them, then clearly Joe didn't think he had anything to worry about.

My point though: having been down on the canvas only 4 times in 19 years, I don't think Calzaghe has a weak chin at all. He got up and won every time, one of those times by TKO in the same round.

No not you i was talking the thread starter that said Calzaghe had an iron chin..At the elite level ( which he's only had a hand full of fights) he's been down twice..And these fighters that put him down aren't exactly cream of the crop power punches especially Roy, who hurt him pretty bad..Now if Lacy was connecting flush on Calzaghe and JC commenced in giving him the beating he did i would deem the iron chin statement as valid..His best 2 names on his resume were fighters that could catch him, but no finish him, I think thats a HUGE hole in fighting calzaghe that Johnson and especially Dawson would be able to fill

Joe will beat Hopkins more convincingly this time, prompting calls that Hopkins is even more shot than last time (conveniently forgetting the Pavlik performance).

Joe makes Johnson look what he is, too old to keep up with him. This will cause people to say that Joe waited till Johnson got old.

Joe can do nothing to get any more recognition amongst the general public, and most knbowledgable boxing people already have him as a HOF'er and ATG, so why should he bother fighting on?

TBH, I'm not bothered if Joe wins or loses either.

The fact is, however, a lot of people on this site dislike Joe for silly reasons, and most of those people are American.

I don't set out to offend or piss anyone off when I post about Calzaghe, and I always post nothing but the truth.

And I think Johnson or Dawson would reel him in..get me now? good..

Calzaghe is not the kind of person you would want to "rush in" and finish.

Only one man has ever tried this, and he was a feared power puncher of his time also.

The two-time World Champion put Joe on the canvas for the first time in his career, and thought he was in a position where a little pressure would provide a big reward.

He was sadly mistaken, however, and discovered that when he is really under pressure, Joe hits harder than most people at 168, and put him away in the same round. (He had never been stopped previously)

*Edit: Have just rewatched the fight, I urge anyone who has not seen it to watch it, Joe performs a masterclass, it's more one sided than I had remembered.

Of course. I thought the fight was stopped slightly prematurely, but the end was inevitable anyway. Had he come back from staggering to the ropes he would have been finished within maybe 10 seconds. Mitchell didn't complain either, I don't think he had a problem with it.
