After many years of being away from the world spotlight, British boxing made a huge impact in 2008. Joe Calzaghe, Carl Froch, Ricky Hatton and David Haye led the way. Often viewed as second-tier fighters when compared to their American counterparts - the Brits came out swinging in 2008. [details]

Give credit where credit is due, this is the golden era of British boxing. If you would've told me 6 years ago that there would be this many British Champions I would have laughed in your face. Also Remember this name Kevin Mitchell, dude is going to make some noise here pretty soon.

Much respect to the British fans, Americans and Latinos cant hog all the glory. And they genuinely promote boxing over there

You shouldnt have to be American to be a star though. I'm American but I always felt Lennox Lewis didnt get the respect he deserved just cuz he wasnt American. If he was from here, he'd be idolized over that brutal KO he gave Rahman.

I'm glad Brits have champions, Europeans have champions, blacks white latinos have champions. This sport is for everybody

America never ruled boxing.... That is a common misconception.

Kell Brook beats all of those mentioned by first round KO.

Good post! A great year for British boxing for sure and I always enjoy the comments and viewpoints of the Brits on these threads. Also keep your eye on John Murray at Light Welter- a young man with good skills and heart.
