How is he going to stop Roy back in the day...especially the 168 version that moved and threw combos. At 175, that is when he started to pot-shot and just sit there more often.

LOL. OK. So because he didn't know where Wales was, there was no need to fight. Makes absolute sense.

Of course he knew who Calzaghe was. By the time Roy fought goddamn Clinton Woods Joe had been a champ for 5 years already.

Anyway guys, no offense, but **** this. I can't be bothered now, it's too one sided and nuthugger-ish in favor of Jones.

Several / a few / some. "Several" does not imply much more than twice. Shuit, maybe I could have worded it better but why would I imply anything? We all know how many times he got knocked out. Dude got knocked senseless by Johnson (not even a seriously big hitter) and Tarver.

Anyway, you know what I was saying.

Jones is the one with the worse chin of the two. If he was up against a guy with a granite chin (or an unstoppable heart, if you prefer that) who throws endless amounts of punches and who had more power back in the day, how the hell do you know that he wouldn't be KO'd by Joe Calzaghe?

See, this ain't even a nuhugger post, I'm just talking sense and trying not to be biased one way or the other. We can all sit here and say "this is what would happen, there's no doubt that Roy would knock Joe out in round 6 / 8 / take your pick", but the fact is nobody ****ing knows! They only go on what they THINK they know and what they WOULD LIKE to happen because they hate Joe Calzaghe. It's really pathetic.

Again, I ask you, if it would be so easy for Jones to KO Calzaghe, why didn't he do it? You can laugh all you want, talk about pay cuts, blah blah. As far as I know there were fights that fell through between Calzaghe and Jones a long time ago when both were prime. This is coming from Frank Warren in the documentary "No Average Joe", because apparently Jones wanted nothing to do with him. Bear in mind, I am not stating that this is an absolute fact, I am going solely on the information coming out of Warren's mouth, on camera, in that documentary. Jones has said nothing about it, just like Hopkins has said nothing about the fight he backed out of in 2002. So what do we have to go on apart from what's been said?

Here's the documentary if you are interested at all.

roy was ko'd twice, bad chin?, he got ko'd by one shot to the chin and that was a massive shot i think that **** woulda knock even calzaghe the **** out(the dumbass that got dropped by a tiny jab by b-hop, and other tiny punches, does'nt seem like much of a chin), as for roys second ko i dont see how gettin hit on the back of your head is your chin
and jump off calzaghe ****, you delusional ******s make about as much sense as swallowing a rock
calzaghe is just above average, no he is a barely above average fighter, when he fights real talent(where the talent is still present) you can come back with arguements about calzaghe being an atg
because right now, i can tell you, this man aint **** and if you can't realise that and just look at his record, there were a **** load of fighters(undefeated at that) that have much more wins than calzaghe and people no **** all about those guys, you think the fanbase is bad now?, you think your children are gonna look up calzaghe see his ****** fights/him getting dropped by shot fighters and are gonna say ''wow i wanna be just like joe calzaghe''

        not gonna happen buddy

Oh man. Hand injuries, my friend. You know this. Go break your hands then try fighting Roy Jones (while constantly dropping your guard).

The punch that cut Roy's face broke Calzaghe's hand, as far as I know.

Even a weak Calzaghe with no power cut Roy. When has ANYONE ever seen Roy Jones bleeding before fighting Calzaghe?

But anyway, that was my last post on this silliness.

          Bottom line: Nobody knows.

              Neither of them are angels.
That's what I don't get. Joe's fans always point to stuff like this like it has anything to do with Joe.

Yes, Roy clearly refused to fight Dariusz OUTSIDE of the US. This was as he stated clearly because he did not want to get robbed because of the Olympic fiasco. Roy addressed this pretty clearly.

Plus Dariusz showed up in the US to watch a Roy fight ringside (Hill) saw Roy destroy him and tucked tail and never mentioned Roy again. Odd.

Calzaghes hands have been done for 5yrs. He is in no-way his peak. Had Calzone got super fightes earlier he would have done better.

Imagine Calzaghe (who is nowgood at the weight) vs Hopkins with a competent ref? mang Hopkins wouldnt go 4rds.

Yes; you have to be on the radar and Joe hadn't fought at 175. Clinton was rated, wasn't he?

Acutally, if Joe really wanted to make noise he should have challenged Dariusz Michalczewski at LH. Dariusz and Roy didn't want to fight each other off their home ground, but with Joe, had he won against Dariusz, he could have pushed for a fight against Jones by offering to come to the States. Wonder why he never did it.

If you want to go by what Frank Warren has said since his split with Joe, how about this?

"I'd like to congratulate Joe Calzaghe on his victory over Roy Jones, I've always said he would have won a Prime vs Prime match up too."

You are climbing up the Joe jockrider ladder. One of the more idiotic statements on this thread.
