i think you missed his point.

RJJ was busy defend the shabby WBO belt against bums in half-empty stadiums. Whilst RJJ was changing weights and taking belts.

Point is there are many belt holders out there, im pretty sure you dont know most of them. Likewise, RJJ probably did not know Calzaghe. it took his 10 years to unify it ffs. Nobody is going to go to Wales to take the WBO belt, simply not worth it.

It's like saying Hopkins going to SMW, and fighting Bute in Romania. Just not going to happen. Calzaghe was in the same league as Bute or Kessler at the time. Decent fighter, but not worth the effort if not enough money is coming in, especially if you going to go to some Small venue

Look at the fighters Calzaghe vs Jones p4p is a one sided fight.

      Joe owns any Roy.

Roy said he knew who Calzaghe was after he defeated Chris Eubank in 1997 and looked as him as a potential opponent back then.

Acutally, if Joe really wanted to make noise he should have challenged Dariusz Michalczewski at LH. Dariusz and Roy didn't want to fight each other off their home ground, but with Joe, had he won against Dariusz, he could have pushed for a fight against Jones by offering to come to the States. Wonder why he never did it.
Clinton pursued the fight and MADE it happen. Something Joe never bothered to do other than talking. Maybe it was Warren maybe it was Joe, bottom line, that's the fact: the onus was on him.

LOL@bringing up Clinton. Clinton took a paycut/came to America did whatever it took to get Roy the P4P champ in the ring.

Imagine Calzaghe (who is nowgood at the weight) vs Hopkins with a competent ref? mang Hopkins wouldnt go 4rds.
I'll give you that, but then tell the other posters who were against me when I said Floyd was past his peak because his hands are wrecked...cool?

Hopkins was also 43 years old and in my opinion, was on the slide after Tito. It's his smarts that kept him in the game. And yes, it was Hopkins fault for getting Joe to late since there was an offer on the table to Hopkins to fight Joe years ago. The best time would have been right after Hopkins beat Tito; Hopkins should have moved up. However, I can understand why he didn't: Legacy with trying to set the title defenses and he wanted O$car. Then Taylor came along to threaten his throne. Timing is everything.

According to Joe ballswinger Roy also must have ducked Fabrice Tiozzo during his title reign.

This **** gets old. Most of Joe's career is "coulda, shoulda , woulda"

I'm pretty sure RJJ knew about Sven Ottke or Thulani Malinga. Does not mean he is going to fight in their hometown for $100 paycheck.

Potential match up simply because he holds a belt. Means nothing more

He verbally said to take the fight on the PHONE in a meeting with a bunch of people.

He also was trying to get out of the Don King 3 fight contract which is why he priced himself out. He never wanted to get in with King, but did it so he could get in the in the unification tourney and get the middleweight belt.

That's good to know. So why didn't Joe make the move to the States or at least fight Dariusz Michalczewski to get leverage to fight Roy?
If he had beaten Dariusz and got his belt and then challenged Roy while saying he was willing to come to the States (unlike Dariusz), that would have put him in a good position. And if Roy didn't take it despite Joe having a title and being willing to come to the States...that hurts Roy.
