Joan Guzman Dominates Ameth Diaz in Ring Return

If only he had enough professionalism to make weight to actually demonstrate his talent in the biggest of stages instead of fighting club fighters in DR.

The reason he fought Diaz was because A.) He's coming off a layoff of over a year, and B.) Nobody wants to fight him.

Admittedly, that's his own fault for failing to make weight. But who would you have rather had him fight?

I am well aware why he was fighting Diaz. I could careless who he fights. He pissed away his biggest opportunity. If circle jerk fans want to keep pimping him.. that is ok. I just believe it is ****** to have any faith in a fighter who gave a big F you to everyone because of his pathetic professionalism.

People forgave Corrales and Castillo in recent years for also having weight issues. People forgive Shane Mosley for taking steroids.

I think everybody is entitled to 1 fuck up in their career, don't you?

admittedly, what Guzman did was a bit worse than what Corrales and Castillo did. Castillo vs Corrales II ended up happening anyway. and Coralles Casamayor 3 I believe it was still happened anyway as well.

In Guzman's case, Nate actually didnt care that Guzman was over. he was willing to fight him no matter what weight he was. but Guzman actually pulled out only days before, and Nate ended up going bankrupt because of that and still hasnt gotten a chance to fight yet.

I dont have anything against Guzman, but that is pretty bad.

Guzman would have taken a beatin in the state he was in...it is his health and people should consider that. What if something BAD would have happend in the ring that day?

You make good points, but let's not forget the state Guzman was in at the time as well. Severely dehydrated and coughing up pure blood. Would it have been better for him to climb in the ring that night and possibly die in there, just to be a professional?

I feel bad for Nate too, don't get me wrong. But Guzman's life would've been in danger to go ahead and fight anyway. It was a lose/lose situation for both men. Admittedly, because of Guzman's failure to make weight.

I just think everybody in life is entitled to a few mistakes.

the thing is that taking no pay against Nate would still be a bad thing. They would have had to set up another date with Showtime(otherwise nate wouldnt be getting paid either), and Showtime probebly isnt going to be very willing to put Guzman back on air anytime soon. its not as simple as, 'hey, lets fight a week from now!'. the fight needs to be scheduled and find an air time and everything.

Im actually glad that Guzman didnt end up fighting, it wouldve been terrible to see him get hurt. but its his own fault he was that dehydrated, and he not only screwed himself over, he screwed Campbell and Showtime too(and the viewers). Im not one to hold grudges, but you have to admit he was very irresponsible, and you cant blame people for being mad at him.

I like the way Guzman fights but he's gonna have to work his way back to the top after what he did

I can understand people being sore at him, he fucked up, point blank. But it seems a lot of them are just going out of their way to piss on him out of spite.

I notice a lot of Pacquiao fans pissing on him, probably because of the whole Guzman/Pacquiao angle from over a year ago.

But we all fuck up in this life, I know I've made bigger mistakes in my life than Guzman's failure to make weight.......
